I’ve also owned the Dell ultrasharp and although good, they don’t compare to the thunderbolt monitors from Apple. I agree that yes they are more expensive but then if you are the kind of person who may sell it on in the future, then the Apple products are insane at holding their values on the secondhand market which may also help sway your decision.
Either way a dell or apple the upgrade will be awesome for you
Thank you very much for your comments guys.
In the end, I have ordered Cinema display from Apple (non-TB!) and if I don’t get it to work on my home PC, I will just take the HP ZR2740w from work to home and use Cinema on my work Mac.
Quick update for those interested:
My new Apple Cinema display 27” (non-TB version) works great with my i7 PC workstation connected to GTX Titan which has full sized display port.
I had to use mini-DP->DP adapter from Cinema to GTX Titan but other then that everything worked great!
