avast.com ive been with them several years never a problem you have a free version and a paid also has free trials

@Zino, @TNL Did they ever catch anything, though? And do you recall how you got the infection?

Yeah, greatly generalising, that’s basically it. Or do so on a (virtual) machine you don’t use for your banking etc

my system is set up.. it sends me a waring that he has detained a cruppet file.. and i give it a command to get rid of it..

Yes Sophos did caught some and put them in quarantine.
You can test your antivirus using this fake virus file and see for yourself if your antivirus do the work or not.
