Note that more than 50% retina MBPs are suffering from severe display issues: image retention, dead pixels, etc. In fact, for your $2-3K you’re becoming a beta-tester :D Nevertheless it’s still best laptop in the world.

I didn’t realise this either, damn… thankfully there is yet another adapter for us Apple users to have to carry around

wow, just compared the retina and realised it doesn’t have a CD/DVD drive… :O
Yeah, they took out the optical drive on the rMBPs, and to be honest, I’ve been using mine for about 3/4 months now and have not missed it all, all my data is in the Cloud or transported via a USB stick.

it’s not for installing stuff it’s for watching films etc, I have loads of DVDs still…

Grab the February 2013 model like I did. Display issues seem to have been predominantly with the 1st gen models, as I can see no issues with mine (currently!!). Never grab the 1st gen models..oooh no!!

I agree. The Early 2013 models were supposed to fix this issue. I am using the new model and have had no issues so far :)

I took my DVD drive out of my 2010 Macbook in December last year to replace it with an SSD drive, and I’ve only had to reconnect it once when burning a DVD for my dad :P It’s in a $10 usb enclosure that’s serving it well enough ;)
