I would really love to see some type of Analytics for referrals added to the system. I’m trying to promote my work on the web but it makes it difficult to see exactly whats benefiting me and whats not.

Does anyone one know of a way to track referral links, maybe a 3rd party system?

Thanks

it’s not possible.

With Google Analytics you’d have to setup cross multiple domain tracking and override the original source just incase they’ve been to the site previously. It can be done within Google Analytics, I’m just not sure why Envato hasn’t done it yet. They probably don’t have an analytics expert on staff with the knowledge and know how to do it. Plus, if by chance the user has already been to the site mistakenly, and come back via your referral link, Envato doesn’t want you to get the money, they want the money and treat themselves as the original referrer… which clearly isn’t the case.

I’ve done a ton of affiliate marketing and know how to properly track the referrals… but many of these companies don’t really understand what a true referral is.

A true referral is someone who directs traffic to your site, and buys something. Even if they’ve already been to your website in the past, it doesn’t matter, you referred them to buy your product or service, which in return you should be credited for.

Personally, I don’t like the referral system, because I know it’s not accurate. Says I’ve had 2 click-thru’s in the past month, which is wrong considering on my website I track when someone clicks my referral links with Google Analytics Virtual Page Tracking Technique. In reality, I’ve had over 80 clicks this month, but Envato only shows 2.

Cheers.

I agree..me too I’d like to see more Analytics about referrals to understand where pushing better my items.

Referring customers and marketing trough social media marketing is the 30% of our work, that’s why could be cool to have more tools to work better.

In general referring users works: I get about 20 referred users and about 60$ a month from them, and I’m planning to get more.. Actually looks like DeviantArt and Adobe Exchange Marketplace are the best places to promote this type of content but..who really knows??

Having more tools to control the clicktroughs can make us understand better if we’re correctly promoting our items.

+1 I want to know from where are the buyers

I mean, right now we can know from where are the clicks, but which of these clicks are successful?

0.008% Conversion Rate is HORRIBLE !

You really need to know where your conversions are coming from. You could be wasting time by placing ads on sites that are not getting you conversions.
