Dear all talented designers and sellers,
I wish that you offer your AE templates in current version of CS6 plus at least three previous versions of CS5.5 & CS5 & CS4. this way surely you will have a wider range of buyers as most of us are working on previous versions and we are upgrading slower than usual.
the reason behind it is that we barely have time to study or learn a new version and get used to it before the next one is out already with more plugins etc.
So I hope that my advice will be considered by all and wish that you will sell more and be more successful.

I’m currently designing templates on CS4 but is getting annoying since I can’t use the full capability of the system.
What version of After Effects you have?
Slow workflow but CS4 it is.
Not planning to upgrade to a newer version at the moment.

I think you’ll find that many authors are beginning to leave CS4 behind now. It’s a very old version and the speed and productivity advantages of CS5 are huge.
You still have a huge range of templates to choose from on the site though… and plenty of authors are still using CS4 for the time being.
If you have a 64bit computer, I’d definitely recommend upgrading to CS6. There are some new features, but there’s not masses of new stuff to learn.
Haha… I still use CS3 for templates… For personal work, I use CS6.
Still using CS4, If we transfer to CS5 or newer version, then have to buy all the plugins again.
CS5 CS5.5 CS6 – Yes! CS4 – sorry No!

If you’re planning to continue using After Effects, you’re going to need to upgrade someday, ‘cos someday, applications become obsolete / unsupported.
Actually, it’s not as expensive as you think upgrading your plug-ins. Many of them are free upgrades to 64bit. If you’re a professional, you’ll earn the cost back in a couple of months, from the speed gain.
The cost of keeping a piece of software up to date is something you have to accept as a professional. At some point, you’re simply not competitive any more, using such an old piece of software. This is part of the reason that I’m always arguing for higher prices.
After Effects is cheap, but keeping a 3D program or high-end compositor upto date costs a small fortune. Your freelance work using your own software should reflect that cost. This is a problem with 3D pricing on VH. To sell your 3D template for $20 or so, you need to own a very fast computer and a $4000 piece of software (with $1500 or more upgrade costs every year or two).
...I will stay this year with CS4 (I have CS6) but here (videohive) this is not important, of course for you and me (quicker work) but for buyers….......? for the money…........
...better to have CS4 and up for lot’s of them
than CS6 for someone’s …
