Its not DigitalOcean fail, DigitalOcean has nothing to do with it. Its your because of your mySQL and Apache configuration. You need to properly configure and optimize it.

really? I have another VPS host before (long time before), and I’m not that newbie with Linux, PHP, apache, MySQL and PHP things… :)

Using unmanaged VPS server means that you need to understand some basic knowledge about your own server. If it is down, you can’t blame your VPS hosting, it is all yours, except for network issue.

For example, check this article, http://www.narga.net/why-moved-digitalocean-guidelines-setup-perfect-vps/

Common VPS issues and tips

MySQL Problems!

I read about this problem first, so I can setup VPS running without it by simple tricks. The Digital Ocean images have no swap space allocated by default. That’s cause of MySQL problem when your VPS run out memory. Luckily this seemed to be a common question for Digital Ocean. They have a step by step by step guide for setting it up on Ubuntu 12.04.

Read about how to add Swap here, https://www.digitalocean.com/community/articles/how-to-add-swap-on-ubuntu-12-04

read my post once again, I already have swap file. Well, I’m not that stupid Mr.Agus

Hi

So, short story – I was order a VPS hosting on DO a week ago. Create a Droplet (1GB) and install a WordPress for my latest theme demo. So I give it a go… The speed is awesome, but today suddenly my MySql is down, fail to logged in, etc – I contact their support. Below is the response from one of DO support guy

Greetings.

The most common reason why MySQL is not running is that it stopped or failed to start as a result of not enough memory.

This can usually be seen by attempting to start the mysql server (“service mysql start” on ubuntu and some other systems) and then reviewing the mysql error log (Usually in /var/log/mysql/error.log or similar file path)

A useful program to review the logs one page at a time is “less”, for example:

less /var/log/mysql/error.log

If you see memory issues such as “mmap can’t allocate” then you can be sure that you are having memory issues.

Potential solutions are:

1) upsize to a larger server. We recommend at least a 1GB droplet for any server utilizing a MySQL database. 2) enable swap (search for ‘swap’ in our articles https://digitalocean.com/community) 3) tuning: reduce the number of running programs, configure mysql or other programs to use less ram, etc)

Hahaha, My droplet already run in 1GB memory, and I already have create a swap file for 512MB before the issue exists. Just WOW! I only run 1 active domain, is that 1GB is not enough!? I understand when theme just get released, we will get huge traffic into our site, but is 1TB traffic (as stated in their droplet plan for 1GB memory, we will get 1TB traffic) is not enough to handle this?

Cheatin huh? :whistle:

So, if you have a plan to test their hosting, you need to think twice, especially if you want to run a WP theme demo :)

Thanks!

People open author’s portfolio page to find more item that can fit their needs… scroll down the page… “W00t is that a shiny big banner at the bottom, click..” boom… disappear, author lost a potential buyer.

Vision to 2020? Are you kidding? :tired:

maybe put your function in ‘template_redirect’?
add_action( 'template_redirect', 'change_col_woo' );
function change_col_woo() {
    add_filter('loop_shop_columns', 'wc_product_columns_frontend');
    return true;
}

Stop this Envato! We already share 50% – 30% earnings with you, isn’t that enough? Now you’re trying to cut 100% sales from us by redirecting user to another site when accessing our portfolio!

@davidossahdez correct me if I’m wrong but you should not post any referral link here

Just signup to DigitalOcean couple days ago for a test, the speed is just awesome! Now I can understand why lots of people said that (MT) grid hosting is overpriced! Will moved all sites from (MT) grid to DO next month!
