Thanks so much Charlie and FD for helping Frank out, much appreciated!
Hi Frank, our Support Team would be delighted to assist you. Would you please contact them by opening a Support Ticket. Unfortunately, we’re unable to directly assist with these kind of questions in the forums. We’ll lock this thread but we look forward to talking to you via the support system. Thanks for understanding!
Hi all, like I said, we’re wanting to give much more clarity to this because it’s such a big conversation with so many variables and to be fair to you all, it’s never been properly clarified before. We want to help improve that. As soon as we get the article published let’s continue this conversation but until then, there’s nothing to worry about, business as usual.
Phishing & Scamming Alerts
We wanted to encourage everyone to be extra vigilant about phishing and scamming attempts that guise themselves as official Envato communications or products. As time goes on it would seem these kind of attempts to compromise personal account details are becoming more intelligent and more prevalent. Always be cautious and aware of e-mails and Web sites purporting to be Envato related, and if you’re never sure about something, refrain from clicking a link you’re not sure about and check with us via a Support Ticket or a tweet to @envato_support.
The following are just a couple of new instances we’ve seen recently to be mindful of but there are obviously many other attempts to try and trick users out there. This announcement is not meant to be an exhaustive list of examples but just to serve as a general reminder.
Here’s a screenshot one of our community members kindly shared with us via a Support Ticket showing an e-mail they received purporting to be from Envato. At a quick glance it looks legitimate, expecially visually, but on closer examination (note the poor grammar) it’s not something that we would send out:
Typos in URLs
We’re not going to mention the name of the site (and there are probably numerous examples anyway), but be very careful about phishing sites that contain a subtle typo in the domain name. On first glance at the hyperlink name it might look like the site is one of our Marketplaces and even if you click it, the site you go to may look identical to our Marketplaces, but because of the typo in the domain name, you’ll have been tricked. If you then attempt to log into that fake Web site, there’s a chance that your username and password may be stolen or compromised. So please, be very safe and vigilant out there!
Tips to Stay Safe and Secure
We’re planning on developing an article of tips on how to stay safe and secure as a community member and we’ll let you know when that goes live. In the meantime, and without linking to or mentioning specific examples or sites please feel free to share general tips, ideas or ways that your fellow community members can stay extra safe and vigilant when it comes to avoiding scams and phishing attempts.
Let’s make this interesting: The members who post the top 3 suggestions we like the most in this thread will each win an Envato T-shirt! We’ll pick and announce the winners week commencing August 4th. We hope we can all work together to ensure we have a healthy awareness and attitude towards staying safe and secure online and being vigilant toward dubious attempts to scam our fellow Marketplace community members. We look forward to hearing your ideas and suggestions!
Stay safe out there!
... Please allow us upto 2 weeks from today to get the new badges added to the Marketplace backend and to award them to everyone…
Who else is looking for his shiny new badge every day?............. hhhmmmm …........
Hello UJ! If you subscribe to this thread we’ll post an update when the badges are live. At the time of writing it looks like the badges are going to be added next week so not too long to wait. Thanks for understanding!
Hi ahkmunna, great question! Authors are permitted to link to their own Website from their profile page but not from item descriptions, sorry! We actually have a great article coming up we’re about to publish that will go into a lot more detail about these kind of areas which will hopefully give a lot more clarity. Hope this helps for now however!
And whats stopping editors to just buy $1 music from itunes or wherever and use it in his project since he knows it is sold on AJ on regular basis? I think I know the answer and solution to this, but I wish someone would explain..
Hi BoomOpera, great question! Firstly, the main thing stopping a user doing this is that it’s illegal. Just as it’s illegal for someone to use an unlicensed track by say, Coldplay from iTunes. Secondly, it’s important to remember that this is optional, but we provide this option as it’s an opportunity some of our authors have asked for. If an AJ author is really concerned about the scenario you described, it’s a personal choice – authors can either pursue this opportunity or not. Finally, the original announcement mentions a way to cleverly change elements of the track being sold for Personal Listening so the composer and producer of the track can immediately recognize whether the music been used without purchasing the correct license form AudioJungle.
Hope this helps!
Hi Potae, welcome to the Envato Marketplaces!
It’s not guaranteed that the same reviewer will see your resubmission, no. If there’s a particular reason why you might need to cite a reviewer’s name, you can add a “Note to the reviewer” with your resubmission and provide more details for the consideration of the review team. Please also note that resubmitting a hard rejected item that has been rejected for not meeting the required quality threshold is not permitted unless a significant rework and attempt to improve the file has occurred. But even then, proceed with caution: Resubmitting hard rejected items with no significant improvements is considered wasting time (for you, the review team, and the rest of the community) and it can lead to some author privileges being revoked. Here are a couple of articles that may help further:
Hope this helps!
That’s great news Scott! Good idea to give the badge to more people!
I would say to do this for every big international football event, World Cup, Euro Cup, African Cup of Nations, etc…
Did you want to finish your post with ‘FORÇA ENVATO’ in Portuguese? It has a very different meaning if you don’t add the extra thingy in the C.. hehe (google images search for forca).Cheers!!
Oh dear! I’m scared to click that link but I took your word for it and updated it to “FORÇA ENVATO”! Thanks for the tip, Carlos! Also, following on from your message, I immediately canceled the order of T-shirts I had made with that slogan on the front.
Many congratulations to our grand prize predictions winner, Blin Varfi from GraphicRiver! Blin wins both the super exclusive and rare gold football badge plus the regular football badge for amassing the most total points (62) from 64 total games! Well done, Blin! What makes Blin’s achievement even more spectacular was that he got 0 points for 8 of his last 9 predictions! Not even a poor run of form towards the end of the World Cup was going to stop Blin, quite incredible!
Although there can only be one grand prize winner, we listened to some of the feedback here and decided to change the number of runner-up prizes as a compromise and as a salute to how popular, successful and fun this event became!
Drum Roll Please!
We are therefore pleased to announce that we will be awarding the regular football badge not just to 2 runners-up, but to everyone who either submitted predictions for more than 50% of the matches (32 games) and/or finished in the Top 100. So if you played a minimum of 32 games and/or you finished in the Top 100, you win a badge! If my math is correct, we will be awarding a total of 133 badges!
Please Be a a Good Sport!
All rules are final, no bad sportsmanship, please – we wanted to ‘share the love’ and had to find a fair way to balance all those who took the contest seriously and played all the way through, with those that scored well irrespective of how many games were played.
Thanks for Making This a Memorable Contest!
Thank you so much to everyone who participated. We were simply overwhelmed with the interest in this contest and although we typically do not like to change any rules or prizes, we hope the increase of prizes/badges here has made the event even more enjoyable and worthwhile! We’ll definitely have to do this more regularly than every 4 years. Maybe an English Premier League contest each year or the 2016 European Championships? Would love to hear everyone’s thoughts. Four years just seems way too long to wait!
Awarding of Prizes
Please allow us upto 2 weeks from today to get the new badges added to the Marketplace backend and to award them to everyone. If there are any winners whose entry cannot be easily matched-up to their Marketplace account name, we’ll drop-by this thread again with an update. We’ll also confirm and list the final set of winners in a subsequent post here. Be sure to subscribe to this thread!
Thank you all again, it’s made the 2014 FIFA World Cup so much more enjoyable! Many congratulations once more to Blin and all our many runners-up! FORÇA ENVATO!
