Great idea but isn’t this going to encourage the minority of unscrupulous authors who pad their new item with fake sales? You know the ones – up for 1 hour with 8 purchases and 5×5* ratings.

How many times have you advised a client not to have auto-playing sound on their website? Yet here it is on the marketplaces. Had the speakers turned up and just crapped myself!

What a palaver. Am I going to have to jump through multiple clicks every time I want to buy something with credit? Just had to change gear down from 5th to 1st to fill out that stuff :/
hi kops, once you’ve saved your billing information we skip you straight to the payment method step. We’re adding logic to automatically select credit if you have enough for your purchase so it will be one click as it previously was :)

Hey Luke – nice one – just made another purchase and although it’s not the quick 2 click it was before, it’s nice and easy :)

Hi Jon,

Have you had the chance to look at these too: http://codecanyon.net/search?utf8=%E2%9C%93&term=support . There are some well-done items in there.

What features are important for you when you look for a support ticket system?

Thanks all for your replies.

What I’m looking for:

Front End:

No unqualified support requests – client will be assigned an account user/pass and have to log in to make a request

Categorization of request i.e. page changes / content additions / Site slowdown / additional functionality

Ability to attach screenshots / images

Back end:

Ability to drag and drop tickets into perceived order of importance.

Ability to close and archive tickets

Ability to view past tickets from each client

Ability to add ‘time taken to fix’ to closed tickets so we can see how much work has been done for Client X over a fixed period.

That’s it really – nothing majorly complex – No need for knowledge base / publicly viewable tickets / twitter streams – none of that extra functionality. Most of the systems I’ve seen are either complicated systems for large support desks or alternatively just a feedback form -> email. We’re a small 2 man company looking for a better way to organise the 40 or so support contracts we’re running for our sites. At the moment it’s damn chaos with requests coming through on phone/email and being written on the back of whatever piece of notepaper is in front of the keyboard at the time.

Time to get shit organised.

I’m not an author here but looking for a help ticket system for clients. Ideally they need to log in first so all their tickets are in one place.

I’ve looked at so many but they’re either waaay too complex or just modified feedback forms masquerading as support systems.

Would be great to have wordpress integration but not essential.

Ticksy looks nice but it seems tailored for envato authors.

What do you use?

Thanks, Jon.

Another request to move the search over to the right hand side, please. It’s weirdly disconcerting to have them on the left.

Have you ever developed a BuddyPress theme? If you do anything unique or custom at all it’s nothing but trouble. They’re a pain to create and even more difficult to maintain. Just say no to BuddyPress.

We made one large site with buddypress and it was a pain in the arse from beginning to end. It was embarrassing to hand over something so unintuitive to the clients and in the end we just dropped the social side of the site until a better product comes along.

This is a pretty neat little game – the heart tutorial level isn’t well explained and I only managed level 3 or 4 in the main game …but good fun :)
