I’ve not uploaded in a while but that sounds a bit strange. I’d imagine since it’s optional you could just leave it blank.

What you should have ready to upload is:

1 x Thumbnail Image 1 x zip file containig the preview and screenshot images 1 x zip file of the main itheme files e.g. what gets downloaded on purchase

i think thats it – hopefully not stating the obvious…

It’s great that you’re looking into WP Theme Development, the links above would be a very good start.

My honest advice however would be to get cracking on creating some HTML /CSS themes first to give you a more rounded skillbase. You could then take one and try converting it to WP as a bit of homework :-)

Personally speaking, I’m fine with HTML /CSS and I can get around WP to fiddle around but in terms of actual theme development I’m not even close to being able to develop one of my own – plus I’d be rubbish at supporting it!

I had that too. They actually bought a WP theme so I wa half expecting a big payout but nothing! I think its to do with them not signing up buy paying the full price grrrr.

37signals posted a really neat tutorial on this

http://37signals.com/svn/posts/2609-customizing-web-forms-with-css3-and-webkit

I think you are worrying a little too much though, concentrate on getting the rest of your theme absoloutely spot on as this is a minor issue really.

Sometimes we (authors) get stuck on the tiniest things for ages. Someone on here once told me to quit doing that and concentrate on the theme as a whole and it’s so true – otherwise you’ll never even finish.

Best of Luck.

This comes up every year :)

What I find is my sales are higher just after the 15th when the payouts come and again at teh end of the month when people get paid.

Re Christmas though – I wouldn’t really worry too much I mean if the themes are good enough they sell themselves.

Merry Christmas everybody :-)

Thanks Monkify I think this is exactly what I need.

What was happening previously is people could register as subsribers but when they logged in they saw the WP Dashboard – i don’t want this, all I want is for them to log in to see content but ithink this plugin deals with this.

I did a fair bit of searching, tbh most dealt with premium logins etc. but I didnt see this one so I’ll try this!!

Thanks :)

Thanks for the replies!

It doesn’t have to be a plugin – I’ll freely admit to not knowing enough about WP to know all the options.

What I don’t want is them to log in to a blank dashboard really. Any more options?

Has anyone got a recommendation for a WP registration / sign up plugin?

My client is looking for a solution whereby only signed in users can access certain areas of the site. They don’t need charging or anything like that it is purely to ensure they maintain some control over teh contents audience.

Ideally it would let users register and perhaps restrict access to pages unless they are signed in.

Does anyone have any suggestions – if I haven’t been very clear do please ask and I’ll clarify.

I think you are probably okay doing that I mean it’s a bit like when you buy the WP version of a site includes the HTML version.

It’d be different if say you were including 2-4 Admin Skins in one bundle (although that would be pretty cool). The reason I don’t think thats allowed is someone like Kriesi or Orman Clark could literally bundle 3-4 themes togehter and ell an absoloute bucket load.

You should be fine with a CC item though – you’d pay for that in the price of the theme.
