There was once a german startup called “want2do” which was focused exactly on that kind of todos. Sadly it went offline since they haven’t earned any money with that. But it was really great with a small community and sharing want2dos and voting for them and such…

Unfortunately I haven’t found any similar services like that yet.

Concept is : spiral + Fibonacci number + leaves + star + Structure of atom ( nucleus form ) + recycling + peace sign + home.

8 leaves that turn around (here number 8 represents infinity) symbolize recycling and restoration (the Earth is able to restore and recycle different materials). Everything on our planet is naturally consistent and balanced (The spiral in the logo is twisted at 137.51° angle which is known as the golden angle). Since everything consists of atoms, the logo has the shape of atomic nucleus. The Earth is our home where we all long for peace; peace which shoud be treasured as well as our planet. ;)
Now that is coool.. great concept here

Wow that’s actually what I’m talking about – this would be the perfect logo for “us” from my point of view since it includes everything I could imagine as “important” – of course, IF we really need a flag to represent us ;-)

While I do appreceate this contest and the majority of its entries, I came to the conclusion that we might need to have a little different perspective on that.

What’s the purpose of a “flag”?
Basically it should represent a specific group. That group needs of course to identify themselves somehow with the flag, but the primary target is actually all those other groups which could “see” this flag – and that is actually the mistake: Why do we assume that those other groups can actually “see”? Why do we assume that those other groups actually understand the purpose of a flag or that they do not have a really different understanding of the concept of a flag? How do we know those other groups would actually be able to understand the image? I mean for example “birds” – while we humans do all know what a bird is, those other groups perhaps doesn’t understand that which might lead to confusion.

So basically, IF there would be really a reason for a flag which for once lets us identify with it, but also do send out the correct message I feel that a flag with maybe our genetical code (tough we all have a unique one) or which images our hand (as seen in one of the previous entries), or maybe any mathematical function since mathematic could be seen as some kind of universal language – without it we wouldn’t even understand living.

Or do I miss something? ;-)

Why not switching everything to “Credits”?

1 Credit = 2 Dollar = 1 Support Question. Credits can be sold also as packages and could be earned (eg. for long time customers,...)

10 Credits = 18 Dollar (just an example).

Since support is done purely on behalf of the author, he/she should get the biggest part of the cake (~90% of each credit), unless Envato provides a proper on-site support solution which eliminates the need of external support forums completely (then this could also taken into consideration in policies).

Buyers who asks more question then one (per request = 1 credit), it will be the authors choice to split it up or to answer them all.

Maybe credits could also be used throughout the whole marketplace. I’m sure this has been anyway discussed before but can’t remember which reasons has been given for not switching.

Unfortunately, it will be a disaster and it’s obvious that they will continue to feed their pockets without adding anything original to the story.

What are you talking about? The upcoming Star Wars is an original story of George Lucas…He wrote further stories but never published them – its no adaption from somebody else. Or do you mean something different?

I didn’t read the whole thread and each reply, but only the first. I believe that this “trend” will be as it is: only a “trend”. My partner was running a theme shop lately with various WordPress Themes and it was really successful. His themes have been really simple – not many options – really basic. The first time I saw it I couldn’t believe that something like that gets sold, but surprisingly there is much demand on that. The thing is that he also offered good support and easy options to customize the theme. I guess that will be the key in the future. You can have 50 in 1 Themes which sells good, or you offer 50 Themes with each of them selling quite well – basically this is the same. We can discuss this further and further but I finally see no reason to freak out. This behaviour has also been in other branches and either way the branch has changed or competitors have failed.

A simple example: Haircuts. There was a time lately where simple haircut quickshops popped up in every corner offering haircut for a price about 30-40 percent lower than their competitors. The majority of the “older” haircutters have been afraid and have been raging about the cheap competitors and have complained that they could DESTROY the market. But they didn’t destroy it but instead simply CHANGED it:

- Those, who have been blind by hatery against their cheap competitors have completely missed the OPPORTUNITY - Those, who have taken advantage of the opportunity are now more lucky than ever - Those cheap haircutters do have their own problems.

But why? The answer is simple: SERVICE The first didn’t understand that they could use this opportunity to just offer a better and more comfortable service. The other did understand that and do offer this better service to adjust the pricing, and are more happy since only the “good” customers are coming who are willing to pay the extra bucks to get this better service and feel more comfortable (like being a part or a friend) The cheap haircutters have problems with staff – no one really wants to work there since the salery is actually not good (people who are doing everything to save a few bucks at a haircut are mainly not able to give a tip), and the clients are really not the best. Even if the price is low they’re still demanding extras.

In the long term I guess that those cheap haircut shops will fail. Service is what counts. So focus on your service, your support, your quality – this way it takes maybe a bit longer but pays off finally.

I’ve made my own extension based on the ReplyPantry by Sevenspark but had no time since then to build in proper options, tough I added a few more features and updated the styles and behaviour a little bit.

You would need to download the source files, install it as unpacked extension, edit the manifest.json a little bit and the assets/js/script.js that it gets applied where you need it and generate a crx file out of it, which you can then properly install on each of your chrome browsers (unpacked extensions doesn’t get synced between devices)

See here: TextPaste

I’m using it with BBPress. It adds a custom button to the WYSIWYG Toolbar which opens an overlay with text snippets to paste into the textarea. All data is saved in localstorage (no sync between devices).

This is definitely a work in progress and I plan to further improve it sometime, until then feel free to fork it and abuse it to your needs.

Hopefully it helps someone.
