The top bar was breaking responsive websites for years, this is nothing new. Always use a custom bar or disable the sidebar with js.
Yup. A potential buyer has just pointed out the top bar is making everything look screwy on iOS devices. So I’ve been losing the odd few sales here!!
Any feedback Envato?
My personal opinion. I think it looks great, and hats off to you for going with a simpler design, and doing it correctly.
There’s a right & wrong way of doing a simple layout, but bar some minor typography tweaks, I think you have hit all the points correctly. Really cannot understand a hard-rejection?
I really feel some of the reviewers are maybe neglecting the more simplistic designs, which is a shame, because in the WordPress theme world, in general, there is a shift coming.
Great video. Nice work.
Step 6 – Never use GoDaddy ever!!! Step 7 – Never use GoDaddy ever!!! Step 8 – Never use GoDaddy ever!!! Step 9 – Never use GoDaddy ever!!!
Great videos guys. Keep them coming.
And I would say that the template has hope. In my opinion, you have to look at the micro level of the design, and improve it. In other words, focus on polishing the details in the template – many of them could use some improvements. Otherwise, the whole design will look like unfinished work.
onioneye has hit the nail on the head. Always look at the smallest of details, and polish them up. Buyers really do look for them, and I love it when an author goes about it this way.
This is where it has become crazy with the multi themes. The designers (even if they are a large-ish team), are spreading their designs so thin across the gazillion different styles bundled. What happened to the designers who fine-tuned, and polished a single design to the maximum?
Oh hey. Those were the days.
If you can afford it get a MacBook Pro Retina Display.
Amen to that. I’m still in awe of the screen, 12 months on from getting it. And it’s a powerful beast!! which is why I use it hooked up to a Thunderbolt display when designing (because it has bags of memory etc..), and then by itself when moving to code.
Waaaaaaay too much animation dude. A little more subtlety needed.
This insanity has to stop soon. Page builders and a few different header variants (Slider, Static Image etc..) I can live with, but I think it’s really unfair to have these ‘300 themes in one’ priced the same as ‘standard’ WP themes. Like has been mentioned, how can we compete here?? The buyers are going to go for more bang for their buck, and it further devalues many authors on here, who don’t want to create these monster themes!!
I had a comment, and 5 star review from a buyer recently which I think nailed it -
“Very beautiful, well designed theme with good support. Not a whole lot of features, but what it does it does very well”.
I don’t want to have to design & build these monster themes thank you very much, I want to carry on taking my time to create great designs, with enough theme options to make a buyer happy enough.
Let’s not be having this conversation again in 6 months time Envato, hey?
