anyway, one week is the norm so arm yourself with patience because is a long road ahead
Don’t know if it’s related but there’s a dribbble shot from the 29th Oct which looks suspicious:
Maybe this is the new invoice authors receive after the changes
whatever one may write here envato is moving in the back to act as the authors are selling directly to the buyers. One important point the fact that the seller need to provide support to the products they sell. This is why, suddenly, support becomes mandatory.
@themepunch thank you for clarifying
doru saidThat is messed up! Don’t they have a “Delete Account” option in their Account Settings?
uziiuzair saidYes, this is exactly what is happening.
I’m a little confused. Although I am not signed up with this website, reading this thread made me wonder. Are you saying if you delete your information, they send you earning details of a different user? O.o
well don’t know, I don’t think it is or t least I didn’t find it. I’ve send them a message using the web form to ask for the account to be removed or at least not sending me mails.
I think there must be some bug on that website and should be fixed.
This is all getting really messy. It worked well till now why do you want to mess it all? Only reason is that last system changing saved you millions upon millions but it complicated tons of other things.
A few people have asked variations of this, hopefully this answer helps as a general answer.
Our core model of operating a platform currently remains the same. We started clarifying it and I think that is raising a lot of questions from authors, and they are ones I and the team are weighing up heavily. The way things are, and have been, has already happened. So the terms and conditions the site has been operating under, and the licenses being sold, has already happened.I understand there is a lot of requests that we shouldn’t work this way, and again that’s one of the things we’re investigating. Alongside we’re improving the way the current site/system/service works to be better.
You are saying that nothing is changing yet from these forum threads we see that envato is changing a lot of things and pretty quickly.
For example, the previous thread was about the US situation. The discussion deviated to Europe and VAT because of authors concerns. You have not mentioned VAT in that thread as expected changes for the near future if I’m not mistaken.
You have asked for a period of research on the US situation and on the other questions and now we have the US situation on hold and in less than two months the marketplace will start collecting VAT and what not. What changed in 20 days that forced this implementation?
As I’ve already said, legal stuff need to be respected, else the marketplace itself will be in danger and no one wants this, but who pay what needs to be clear.
I’m very happy I don’t need to deal with the VAT mess in the future, collecting VAT for each sell would had been a hell.
But what authors are asking is this: if there is need to pay VAT for the past years, and if yes, who needs to pay this VAT? Do you have some information on this issue?
Off course I think is clear till now that authors don’t want to pay this VAT and arguments are quite strong. For example we never had the instruments to pay this VAT. Starting with the fact that we have no information about the buyer and ending with the fact that the marketplace never collected the VAT in the first place (as collecting VAT needs to be made clear to the end user, it needs to be clearly show the base price and the VAT percentage on an eventual invoice, this was never done )
Finally It also looks to me that envato is going to a private case to case situation which may be a good thing as speaking about this financial stuff over a public forum is getting ridiculous (we’ve asked for ages for a private forum for authors to discuss sensitive information).
I’m assuming that ThemePunch situation had been dealt with, as I see no reply from them on this thread. If not, ThemPunch please let us know.
Getting private help may be good for elite authors but for the rest of the crowd, I hope I’m wrong but, we will get the same attention?
