Let’s not be absurd, shall we? I wanted to lock the thread a long time ago, but went ahead and answered like another author! Travis locked the tread because keeping this thing centralized will give Collis and other staff members an easier way to respond. Collis usually blockquotes a lot of comments and answers each and everyone of them!
Whilst we were talking about community guidelines, this thread is about support being mandatory, not about staff locking threads and doing their jobs. If you see something wrong with that, please open a support ticket!
And while we are here, Doru, you usually make some AWESOME comments, but sometimes, you just feel the need to rant at staff for every possible reason in this world! Chill out Doru! Think about this! What if everyone will have an open letter to Envato thread and wonder why no one replies. While we are at it, why don’t we just make all the forum topics ” An open letter to Envato ” This goes for you too QBKL. I’m not bashing you guys! I’m merely remarking on this fact as being the best solution to keep things in one place!
Now, please, let’s get back to this discussion as I believe there are far more important things to discuss than locked threads! If you replied to a locked thread, and believe your post was relevant to this conversation, please copy and paste your post here! Thanks guys!
And “I go around ranting at staff about every possible reason in the world?” What is this?
No need to contact support, there is the owner of Envato on this thread who I strongly believe understands the importance of a community that colaborates with the company.
You lock threads, people get angry. Angry people are less incline to collaborate with staff if they perceive their opinions are censored.
That thread got locked now you have users here quoting +number the same open letter that was sitting by itself in its own thread.
That some way of resolving a problem. Bravo.
For quite some time now, the community staff locks threads with many replies “for keeping things centralized” or because an user broke some of the community guidelines.
If two different thread exist is because they represent different arguments. If one user break a rule the post should be removed not lock the entire thread.
Sometime locking threads make sense, we have nothing against those occasions but what is really irritating is locking threads that discuss features or issues of the marketplace and when things get a bit critical.
I’ve made this post to state one reason why the community is a bit nervous when interacting with staff currently
This locking threads.
Quite stupid reason if one thinks about it.
And as expected, although asked not to lock it, the topic announcing our open letter to Envato, has been locked and dismissed in the name of keeping things “centralized”. Very bad practice! It was the reason I chose to publish on Medium as forum topics get locked and buried while comments get lost in so many pages on hot and important topics like this one. So, fellow authors, please forgive me if I repost this link so that maybe enough people read and share (the link and their own views), enough to maybe actually make Envato finally give up listening and start a meaningful dialogue!
Thank you everyone!Alex
Forum space cost money. Each open thread is a drain on the financial department. It makes sense to close them and have everything in one big huge thread.
can we just get back to our badges? woman, man, someone need to make them fit the marketplace.
ValvePress comment here!!!
Between us, I have a matching story to tell, when I was talking with my friend (he used to be an author here) that I was frustrated from the new badges and even without I know that it was made by Kate he told me (even before he see them) “There should be a women who made it” I laughed and told him that he must be wrong and he should not be that biased. So I laughed a lot once I saw your debate and found that my friend thought was right. I hope he will not see this commend
ValvePress friend you need to read the comment above!!!
how many purchases for each item all time and averaged for a month.
this gives you the actual earnings (envato cut is left out) total and per month
well you don’t have to answer to every comment but don’t worry, the limit will be removed at some point.
