This split up in author fee and buyer fee has mainly tax and law reasons, right Collis?

while against the locking threads I have to agree that this should go to the main thread where Collis and staff can see the posts. better
As mentioned previously this fee will likely be removed in the future, which will increase the overall sales for all authors (buyers are scared of fees)
if the fee will get removed then will be great. still why is not removed now? if not possible to remove it now, why removing the author benefit?
It may look as small percentage for one author but at marketplace level this is a nice amount of money.
we know envato have a lot expenses, staff to pay, office rent, amazon servers and what not, but we have our issues too.
I may be ok with losing that percentage of my earnings if those money will be utilized for better future projects of the marketplace, but lately the directions is not something that I like. I’m not saying is bad, is not this the point, is just that I don’t like the “72 hours”, I hate the new homepage (just released an item and probably no one saw it as it have no sales – the same with previous projects I’ve made in the last months), even the badges change.
Just want to keep this thread alive until something is done about these badges. Any word from Envato staff?
they responded a couple of pages back and they said they have no intention in the near future to change the badges or reverse to the old ones because:
they love the badges
they have better things to do now than changing badges
with time you will love them too (this really begs for a certain kind of joke but forum rules are strict )
Sorry, I might be stupid. I still can’t find anywhere saying the buyer fee is always 20% of the item price. It only says it is $20 when the item price is $100.
was just referring to the fact that the 20% fee doesn’t change when you move the slider.
but you may be right maybe the fee may get up (or down) in the future and if this happens then the item cost may increase while the author earnings will stay the same.
Roberto, the surcharge was meant to cover the fees envato get when someone buys, it was never meant as an income generator for authors, hence why I called it a bonus. It was an extra payment from each sale which Envato didn’t take away.
you forget that any fee envato pay is called “running a business” is the reason why they take 30% or more from the item cost.
any expenses needs to be covered in that rate.
if the item cost 12$ author needs to get a percentage from that price not a percentage from 10$
it makes no sense in any other way
