I don’t think that good weather or holidays are responsible for this extreme drop of sales ( for me about 30% – 50%), because in the last 3 years March and April have always been some best months. Market saturation and a lot of low quality items (GR) are more likely the reasons.
If you have a sudden drop of 30-50%, you should start looking into what you might be doing wrong. Although I agree that Envato should tighten their requirements for new items.
When envato tighten their requirements for new items, some authors will complaining about that too for sure.
“Why my theme rejected”,
“Ridiculous, our theme got rejected”

And? What’s the problem? I’ve been rejectect often at my beginning. So I had to learn to improve my skills and work over my items.

It was not sudden. It is a insidious process. 2013 was a great year. 2014 I sold less than the year before, but I had a bigger portfolio. And this year… don’t ask!

To those concerned about EU VAT and how it might have affected or will affect sales in the future – in my opinion, there’s no such problem.

Average VAT is about 21% which would account for $4.2 for a $20 plugin or $12.6 for a $60 theme. Now, that may look like quite an amount, however, this is not a significant amount having in mind that: a) EU countries are relative wealthy and $4.2-$12.6 for a good solution to a real problem is not too much b) Most of the buyers are using these items for some kind of business and $4.2-$12.6 for a good business solution is even less significant when you earn hundreds or thousands of dollars for building a site to other company or make your living from running some eCommerce site or so

I also see a slight drop in sales (10% or so) which started on the Easter weekend and continues to date. However, I would attribute this to some other factors, e.g. spring in northern countries or Northern Hemisphere, people enjoying good weather after winter months etc.

No, I didn’t get my withdrawal. Still waiting for it.
I have already received it, but on envato it still is on “Currently processing withdrawals” page. Did you check pp/payoneer account?
No email, no money and still “Currently processing..,” That is the first time this happens to me.

Some understand that wrong. The prices are NOT too high, but VAT + price increasing keeps many customers away. I (and other authors) have a massive drop of sales. This is NOT normal. And this has been going on since more than 4 weeks. Never had this before and I’m a member since march 2011. This is a big problem for me. I’m selling here not just for fun.

This is strange because the number of visitors to the site is the same.
But the sale of a 50% smaller.

not really, not when we are being charged 20% more because of the addition to VAT on top of the already increased pricing of 2014. Sales will fall when prices have increased so much. Don’t matter how you put it, unless Envato cut pricing, sales will continue to fall for most.

The other site (template) site with a monster name are offering 40% off everything at the moment, I just purchased 4 themes. That money would of been spent here before, in fact, I have now spent $800 less this year because of these prices and I asked on my FB and over 600 people have replied they are not buying because of the price.

Shame Envato don't realise, templates are one of the most expensive now (compared to all other sites)

if they cut pricing they would gain more sales. Still, for every 1 who say sales are the same or up, 30 are saying sales are falling. So I know why sales are falling, I have already said before

I would buy themes on Impulse, now I have stopped, I haven’t found one theme since the brilliant Re-Hub that takes my fancy, where as before I can list 10 from the last 2 weeks I would of purchased in the hope that one day one of them would be useful.

I don’t think there is anything else to say. It’s over to Envato now, if they want to see sales fall then they need to do nothing, if they care, they will read and act.
Very interesting! And I think you are right. VAT and increasing prices seems to be the problem. Thank you for sharing your opion!

This was my second cat But he was run over by a car last summer. I also miss him.
So cute- ! It’s always sad to lose a good friend, and animals are always good friends.

Yes, we all have been very sad, especially my daughter. But much sadder would be a life without any pet :-)
