I have planned to do it with most of my items but actually never did it! when i have some time i would like to go through all my zero-times-sales and redo all the descriptions, tagging, retitle.

thanks for the advice!

After the previous milestones, including the 100 and 200 sales mark, this night I reached another success: earning more than 100$ in a single month! :) I hope 2014 will be even better and to get even more!

Totally agree with bosone, exposure is the most important thing. Looking at the analytics, my ratio of page views and sales is pretty good… but it is difficult to sell a track that has been played by just one person in a month.

thanks… :) for “common authors” as me having a lot of tracks (and selling on different marketplaces, i admit) may indeed help… 100 tracks each viewed by 3 person a month in 3-4 different marketplaces may lead to satisfactory results for a person not involved 100% in music…

IMHO it’s all about exposure.
how can a top-notch, perfectly produced track, very generic and suited to every possible corporate/ad video be found in between 10.000 other tracks? imagine if Hans Zimmer should anonimously produce one of his epic cinemtal track under a false name and place it on audiojungle. will it be noticed or not? i think it will maybe sell a couple of times :-/

my ideas are that:
being on videohive helps a lot
being feature helps a lot, but only if you are in the right place at the right time…
having a website / youtube /soundcloud channel with thousands of visitors and a well-known production studio to drive fidelized clients here helps a lot

I also, as said before, feel that the top sellers are top sellers because they… actually are top sellers!

who wants to bet on this? try to imagine to shut down the “Popular items” category or deny the possibility to sort by rating/sales for a month. let’s make the customers rely only on their search queries.

how many tracks would tim mcmorris and pinkzebra (to name two…) sell?

and another question: will the total number of items sold in audiojungle be the same without the top selling category and the possibility to simply choose the best seller item? in other words, will a buyer spend some more time to actually listen to the songs resulting from a search instead of looking just at the best sellers??

it the answer is yes then ENVATO is actually losing a lot of money in investing on top authors

(by the popular item list, sort by sales, etc) because these songs are usually from exclusive authors who gets 70% share. what if the same numbers of songs would be sold by “common” sellers, not exclusive (33% share) or exclusive but with 50% share? :)

just one (technical) question: “if i delete an item i wont be able to submit it again”.

how can envato “remember” the items i have uploaded/delete? what about if i change the title and maybe do a different mix? or even add 50 millisecond silence at the beginning or at the end?

IMHO a “spring clean” should be made, to remove the files older than, say, 2 years that still had zero sales…
No, that doesn’t make sense, 2 years with a zero sales doesn’t mean that sale will not come. I guess the point is that customer have a wide selection..
I can see both of your points. I really think there is validity though, to having fewer tracks, but higher quality/higher demand tracks. It would really benefit all AJ Authors I think. More items means more items that customers have to search through. I have done some searches myself, just for curiosity. In some genres alone, there are literally hundreds of pages (not just items, pages!) with no sales. I’m not sure what the mindset of the customer is, but it may be easier for them (when there are so many tracks) to just look for the top selling track and go with those.
that’s the point audioaftermath
with so many tracks for a customer is like to look for a needle in a haystack
IMHO envato should find a way to promote (good) tracks with less sales, otherwise just the best sellers tracks (the one in the top lists) will continue to sell, making new authors go in depression :D.

some ideas:

a “just sold items” list but limited to items with very low amounts of sales, let’s say less than 5-10… it would not have sense to grant more exposure to items already in the top seller category.

a “new popular items” chart, i.e. best seller items approved no more than 4-5 months ago with the higher amount of sales.

i really feel this would help to promote new authors and tracks.

and i’m still quite sure that many of us would benefit from a “spring clean” of older items collecting dust without being sold.

i went for IK multimedia total bundle, mostly for amplitube, the reverbs and t-racks

sampletank and related romplers (including miroslav) seem really outdated nowadays but maybe there will an upgrade path to sampletank 3 and i will able to use miroslav with an enhanced engine.

What ToivoMedia said. Collections could be much more useful… it would be nice to able to feature a collection on our profile page, just like an item. Also being able to follow collections would be great for authors that have many categories of files, because buyers could choose which collections (categories) to follow, instead of being updated of items they might not care about.

+1 :)
