Also having your songs used by successful videohive authors helps or having your song featured on main page.

Yeah, that’s the #1 in my rating. But the most difficult is to “convince” or find someone from VH to use you music. Any promotion in this sense was useless for me! My songs used in VH projects were all found by authors i never contacted before…

Hi! I succeded in finding a simsimiyya, a sort of harp. http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Simsimiyya

the manager from hotel in Aqaba (Al Qidra) helped in me in this search…

This is my frst try playing this instrument: https://soundcloud.com/bosone-2/simsimiyya-take-1

All was recorded (very fast…) with a zoom h4n in multitrack and then mixed in sonar 8.5 (all the sounds comes from this instrument…)

@bosone After this experience, I would agree with you. So where do you advertise? Google?

well, actually i gave up on advertising my cds! :( i tried also twitter and i found it may be more useful but you need the right followers and the right tags.

IMHO facebook is not the right place to advertise. i did a very small campaign some years ago for my lullaby CDs but the retrun was almost zero. and it was extremely targeted… i got followers but not sales. I don’t think ads on facebook will lead to sales, expecially in this field. eventually you will gain followers but how many followers do you need to get 1 sale? do you even know who are you following on facebook?! consider also that, on mobiles, facebook ads are not even shown…

i came to the conclusion that FB is crap for makerting… at least for small activities
