“For EU authors, we’ll be managing the EU VAT compliance (i.e. collection, record keeping, invoicing, remittance, and so on) for sales made to non-business buyers through Envato Market”

OK, but what about business buyers? I guess we’ll have to deal with them?

I agree with you completely.

The main point from the Webdesigner Depot article:

“Services that just give you the ability to host an online store or that deliver digital downloads for you will not exempt you from having to deal with the VAT yourself.”

Well, first of all, Envato doesn’t give us an ability to host our own online store (companies like shopify offer that service), and they also do not just deliver digital downloads for us; they sell them, and that’s pretty clear given how the system works. It’s silly to claim otherwise.

...unless the service is willing to act as the seller.

...should these features be visible and definitely work in the preview?

How about if we upload screenshots (language and currency switcher in action) to our theme’s screenshot section? Is it enough?

Hello!

I just checked some of the Ripoff Report complaints and I bet that 90% of them are because:

  • buyer never installed a WP theme before
  • didn’t read the documentation
  • they dropped the mouse at the first “difficulty” like installing a plugin and screamed FRAUD instantly

Even most of them couldn’t write a single sentence without spelling mistakes.

As an author I experience on my own skin that TF reviewers are testing themes really hard and if they wouldn’t function as advertised they wouldn’t make it to the frontpage.

Still I don’t want to confute your opinion, I’m sorry if you had such an experience with authors.
