I think Tranquil Mornings would be a perfect fit. Melancholy Violin and Piano would also work well if you’re okay with switching the instrumentation to a violin and piano. Waltzing Through Wonderland is another pretty mellow track that might fit the project.

Check out Melancholy Violin and Piano for an orchestral track or Tranquil Mornings for an ambient electronic track.

Yep, Logic Pro is perfect for that! Add a new software instrument track and take a look at all the presets installed. For drums, the Ultrabeat instrument is a great place to start. Find a kit you like, and use the sequencer section at the bottom to make your own beat patterns or use an already sequenced pattern. You can also look through the loops section in the right bar of the main window to find more beats.

Check out the Logic Pro online guide for lots of information and step by step instructions that will help you get started. There are also excellent Sound on Sound articles with tons of helpful information on how to work with different Logic features.

Hey uaesthetics!

For basic recording, you can download a free program called Audacity. You will be able to edit the audio and add effects like reverb. For more advanced editing and the ability to create MIDI instrument tracks, you will need a digital audio workstation. I use a program called Logic Pro, available for Macs only. I’ve heard good things about Reaper, which can be used with a free license for a long trial period.

With Audacity or a DAW, I highly recommend you practice recording with monitoring, which is where your voice is played back to you through headphones as you record. It can take awhile to get used to recording this way, and it’s a good idea to be used to it before you head into the studio.

A studio will usually have much nicer equipment, and more of it so you can try a variety of microphones to find one that best suits your voice. Additionally, the recording space will be acoustically treated so the recording will be much clearer and have no background noise. The engineer can probably also help you with post-processing, using effects like reverb, pitch correction, splicing together multiple takes, and compression to get the best vocal take possible.

Good luck with your project!

Tranquil Mornings is a perfect match for the style you’re looking for, and it can easily be looped.

As a reminder, I’ve been collecting the submissions from the thread in a collection.

72 tracks so far, and I’m sure more will trickle in (mine, for one, is in the review queue :))

I have a few favorites, but I haven’t yet listened to the past 20 or so tracks…I can’t believe how many great songs there are! Awesome job, everyone!

Melancholy Violin and Piano starts out with a slow, romantic melody and builds into a fast-paced section near the end.
