So why do you not just report Exclusive Authors uploading their original content to other Marketplaces ?

Does it make sense to discuss it here and maybe even motivate others to jump on the train ?

but I have heard a few bigger selling artists here using an almost identical “re-work” of their popular AJ-exclusive tracks. Can I assume this is a violation also?

This is a critical point, if this is seen as violation, then many of the tracks here on AJ should be banned, as they are “soundalikes” and really very similar to some top selling tracks.

I’d say, if a author is uploading dozens of tracks like that, it’s not ok. But if you find one or two tracks from an author on other marketplace that sound similar to his ones on AJ, it’s not more unfair then all the people copying ideas from other authors. That said, most of the clapping ukulele whistle tracks should be banned ;)

I listened as well and i have to agree with others :

1. The timing (especially the shaker) is off

2. Some Reverbs and Delays are off in the timing

Those are probably the reasons for the rejection. It’s not a question of “taste” here, but sure a matter of “wrong” settings that can be heard by someone without trained ears.

Fix these things, work a bit on the mixdown and resubmit it :)

Hello All

I Agree that it is not fair to sell exclusive tracks on other stock sites. I had to open a second non-exclusive AJ account to upload some tracks on AJ and on the other marketplaces.

Not sure what other think about it, but i used some older AJ tracks as a base to produce a new one and uploaded this “new” track to other Marketplaces and used sometimes a similar name and the same promotional pictures for it. This helps me saving time in writing a description and creating graphics for each track.

To my understanding this does not violate any terms of AJ and i think it’s fair enough to spend one or two days on a “old” track and take it as a “new” one even if some sounds are re-used and the name is similar.

I was a loyal exclusive author for 4 years now on AJ and had to make the move to other marketplaces because i try to life from my income generated by music. Therefore it’s simply to “dangerous” to rely on one marketplace.

That’s just my opinion and i hope no one feels offended or cheated by doing things as described.

Hello

First of all, thanks for bringing this up again as a constructive discussion. Here are my points that i have experienced and some general thoughts about piracy :

Seeing Authors from Themeforest coming up with suggestions like “Envato should ask $5 per item per month from authors to handle DMCA for them” really annoys me. Especialy speaking as Audiojungle Author where money is earned the hard way.

Hearing that we, the authors are responsible for taking action and sending DMCA’s out is not the best way to motivate authors. I can assure you, that i invest 20-30 hours a week into my work for Envato (AJ, GR and VH) and earn approx $1’000 per month. Putting another 10 hours monthly into keeping my portfolio looking nice and tidy, plus doing some promotion for my items. If i have to invest another few hours in sending DMCA’s out brings me to a point where i have to ask myself if it’s worth the immense amount of work for $1’000 ?

If i as a individual send out a DMCA to a hosting company does for sure not make the same pressure as if Envato, a mutli million dollar company sends out DMCA and Warnings on a regular base. Especialy as most of the pirated files contain “Grahicriver” or “Videohive” in the filename, it is easy to send a compiled list with hundreds of items per DMCA, which i as single author can’t.

The EU just released a new law, where providers and hosting company can now be forced to shut down accounts and company servers where illegal content has been distributed. This is brand new and we should really make use of that. I anyway don’t see a reason why any of these companies are still online (at least in the EU and US) as 99% of the content they host is pirated material. Who else uses services like this to store files ?

And here some general thoughts to people constantly claiming “it’s 2014 and piracy is a fact, we have to life with it as fighting against it is wasting your time”. I don’t know why people constantly think that a year, or decade is responsible for that situation. Because it’s human greed and egoistic behaviour that creates this situation. Everyone thinks digital content should be free and it’s nothing bad to download pirated stuff. If we all keep acting like this, i can assure you that we will loose many, many more jobs and this will affect EVERYONE out there in the long term. And everytime you download illegal stuff, you should be aware that you are putting your own job in danger as our economy is a cycle and everything affects the other over a period of time. This is not really hard to understand, but as egoism and greed is the driving force behind many individuals, they simply ignore this until the day they will loose their job because no one has money to buy their services are someone else offers a cheaper solution.

Thanks for reading all this :)

I have a further question regarding transferring files to a non exclusive account that probably needs a staff reply. when I remove a file with sales on it does it affect my overall sales #’s? Basically if I have 1500 sales and I remove a track that had 10 sales would my new sales # show 1490?

No, i did not see that happen when i removed an item.

Thanks for all the infos Matt.

I registered and upload my complete backstock last week to AdRev. The AJ tracks do not have priority for me, but my “official” releases. I constantly find many “fans” uploading my track with some sort of video or slideshow, so why not getting these monetized to earn at least something in return.

I will keep you updated as soon as i get the first statement from AdRev.

Daniel

I downloaded and looked at it. Seems very nice but I wonder if it will work for Audio Jungle since it automatically determines the frequency of the watermark based on your song length and it also adjusts the watermark volume as well. According to Audio Jungle, “Do not edit the watermark in any way. It must play every ten seconds.” http://support.envato.com/index.php?/Knowledgebase/Article/View/353

If you watch the tutorial video, it explains, that you can simply switch of volume detecting (which i wouldn’t as i now do the same manualy) . Also, if you make a short AJ watermark loop with a 10sec repeating freq. and use this as “only” watermark for the script, it will ignore the variable lengths.

For automatic watermarking on AJ while uploading :

I’m not too sure if this is “better” – the only plus is that you might save some time, but with this script it is also very quick to do.

Hello fellow AJ authors

just came across this awesome (and free) VBS script that does automate bulk watermarking. And that’s not all, it does also :

  • Convert from wav to mp3, ogg and others in one step.
  • Add a watermark loop based on file length (short file, more frequent watermark, long files less frequent)
  • Add the watermark volume based on the source material (soft source volume, soft watermark volume)

and many, many more. It’s completely free to download, but make sure you donate something to the author if you find it useful (as i really do). Saves so much time and effort to watermark large libraries.

Have fun :)
