Could please someone elaborate this to me:
Themes are not permitted to add options that define the number of posts to show on archive or category pages via a global setting.
I am using the Gantry Framework and this is the integrated part of the framework to set the number of posts in Blog view, Category View, Archive View and you can do an override by category based for example some categories can have 10 post per page and some 20. Why is this setting so important that the theme will not pass the review?

I’ll follow up with the review team on this but overall I think that it interferes with third party code. I’ll post back in a bit.

I need to ask because I cannot see any clear declaration on this topic elsewhere.

Question is:

Is this allowed to use code which requires PHP 5.3?

( namespaces, DIR magic etc. )

As long as this requirement is clearly noted, I don’t see why not. The newer versions of PHP bring a lot of niceties that I think will benefit a lot authors.

do we need to make all shortcodes as plugin
Not all. The list of what is accepted and what’s not has been listed and disseminated earlier. My Google-fu is a little weak—I’m trying to find the exact link as we speak. I’ll post back in a second.

what abt custom posttype do we have to make that also as plugin.
Ideally, yes. This way the user will still have access to all his/her data.

can we include plugins in seperate folder without using tgm.
No, it’s recommended to use TGM or an alternative for dependency management.

Tasked with answering community questions, I came here expecting tough, incisive questions and here I am looking at GIFs.

May as well join you all. Surprised no one has used this classic yet!

Supporting past versions of Internet Explorer is often one of the biggest headaches of being a web developer. Today, as an early Christmas present to authors, we’re pleased to announce that IE8 compliance will now be purely optional for authors.

How Come?

The percentage of users using IE8 has dropped sharply in the past year with the current number well under 8%. Whether this is due to widespread adoption of Windows 8, Internet Explorer starting to auto update or jQuery 2.0 dropping support for IE8, we’ll never know. What we do know is that it’s time to finally put a stake in its heart!

Can we bundle required plugins in a separate folder and let users upload them individually? Or this is a space-mission task for users?
Yes, you can. :)

Hi,
Can we include the script which will be initialized and used by plugins only? It doesn’t used in the theme while plugins aren’t connected, but it loads. For example, slider is used in the shortcodes, while “CPT” plugin is connected and for any other advanced options. It’s very bad if you have to duplicate the script and use different dependencies.
Can you explain a little bit more please? It’s a little fuzzy to me now.

is TGM mandatory ? say i don’t need all TGM features but can obtain the only ones i’m interested in with simpler (custom) code, would that be a problem ?
We don’t have a concrete answer for this. Can you show me some custom code that we could look at to evaluate options?
