Envato's Most Wanted

We’ve put $6,000 bounty on the heads of Envato’s most wanted file type – Video Players on CodeCanyon. How do you collect? Be one of the first 10 to have a Video Player uploaded and approved.

  • What’s the reward? For the first 10 we’ll hand out $300 per Video Player

We’re also running a Best Item Contest where authors of all Video Players submitted between July 23rd and September 10th will have a chance to win the following bonus cash prizes:

  1. $500 Best Video Player Plugin
  2. $500 Best HTML5 Stand Alone Video Player
  3. $500 Best Designed Video Player
  4. $500 Most Innovative Video Player
  5. $500 Best Playlist Video Player
  6. $500 Best Service Integrated Video Player

This event is across all of CodeCanyon categories however Video Players must have the following features to be considered:

  • HTML5
  • Be Responsive
  • Work on Tablets / Phones

Here are some examples of the type of files we’re looking for:

It’s a Race & Contest!

This Envato’s Most Wanted is a race and a contest. And like any contest, you don’t want to be disqualified because you didn’t follow the rules. So as well as carefully following the procedure below, make sure you read the in full!

Here are the key details:

  • Submit your items on or after Wednesday, July 23 AEST and before the competition closes on Wednesday, September 10 at 23.59pm AEST time.
  • The winning files will get a share of $6,000 of prizes.
  • Envato staff vote on bonus prize winners.
  • An author can only win two (2) of the first 10 prizes.
  • An author can win multiple bonus prizes.
  • All winners will also receive the much-desired Most Wanted Bounty Winner badge.
  • Bonus Prize winners will also receive a “Won a Contest” badge.
  • Final eligibilty on entries for prizes are determined by Envato staff.
  • All submissions during the event are eligible for the bonus prizes, not just the first 10 winners.
  • Multiple submissions from the same author must be different to one another.
  • If only 1 entry is submitted to a ‘Best Item’ category this does not automatically mean it will qualify to win the prize.
  • Prizes are payable only via PayPal or Moneybookers/Skrill.

We’ll announce the winners a week or two after the event closes, and send out the prizes two or three weeks after that. So, let’s get started. To be in the running, follow our procedure to the letter!

How to Submit Your Items

What to Do After Your Items Are Approved

Once your items have been approved, do the following as soon as you can:

  • Complete the Most Wanted Entry Agreement. By doing this, you agree to keep any winning entries online for a minimum of two years.
  • Post your approved entries in this thread.

It’s as simple as that! The first 10 files to be uploaded (and subsequently approved) based on the above requirements win. Good luck!

Just wondering, will the page speed be taken into account in this competition? (eg inline css to render out what will be in the viewport before loading the other css files and minified javascript etc)

As part of the overall quality of the item, yes page load would be taken into account.

Is it possible to use other payment methods in contest ? Because in my country problematic work with PayPal and Skrill services. I use Payoneer for Envato marketplaces. Thanks.

In certain situations such as this we allow Payoneer to be used.

Is it ok if we create a game using Adobe Edge Animate? And not using any game frameworks? Ali

Interesting idea. So would you create the game in Edge and then submit to the HTML5 Category?
