To upgrade RAM you’d need to know about something first:1. What kind of RAM does your mainboard support? DDR2 or DDR3? This is important. I recommend you to download CPUZ and know more about your system because it seems like you don’t know much about your system hardware.
2. What is your current RAM bus speed? And what is the max RAM memory/ bus speed does your system support? About the current bus speed, you can use CPUZ – this is important, too. About the max RAM bus speed and memory allowed, you should know what your mainboard is, and check out the online spec – it should be there.
3. Re-installing Windows? – Not necessary. But, if you want to have 4GB or more of RAM then you should go 64-bit. Because 32-bit Windows can only see as much as 3.2 GB of RAM.
Feel free to ask me if you have any issue![]()
Cool… Now i am a dead man… I am using Windows XP still. That means i need to upgrade my OS also for that 64 bit. right ?

SBJEWEL saidbtw; I am still using Windows XP. I like it. It’s easy to use. Hope it will support at least 4 GB of RAM. Right ?
DoubleX saidNo you don’t. Windows 32bit version can’t index more than a 3.25GB of memory, that’s why you have to update to x64. Cpu will support x64 for sure.
Thanks guys. Now about 64 bit OS ! I think for this i need to change my Processor also. Right ?

SBJEWEL saidAlmost sure you have 32bits. Anyway the system info is bit down on the same panel.
BenSheppard saidMine is Core 2 due; Not sure what it support… 32 bit or 64 bit !
SBJEWEL saidDepends on your current processor, if you right click “my computer” and click properties you’ll find out what processor you have

Windows7 32bits is limited to 4GB. So don’t install more than that, or plan to expend more money to upgrade to 64bits. And in that case, i would go for a newer machine, imo.
You will find out about this in another thread.BenSheppard saidMine is Core 2 due; Not sure what it support… 32 bit or 64 bit !

I want to increase my RAM. I have only 2 GB RAM and have two slots in my Motherboard. Now i want to add another 2 or 4 GB RAM in my another slots. So my questions is… Do i need to install my Windows Operating System again after i add another RAM in my Motherboard ? Is there anything i need to know before i increase my RAM ? Anyone knows ? Thanks.
