This is indeed useful but yeath 20$/month subscription is no deal. Also look at “live editing” feature of tool set in web development environment they’re all free and open source.

What they are not saying here is that they totally dropped AS2 support… a bit late in my opinion…

Still gotta keep the old Flash Pro to review AD files, how sad it is Marco ;-)

Most veteran developers I know use code oriented IDE like FlashBuilder for AIR development so this update is nothing fancy at all. Flash Pro will always be mainly an animation and asset editing tool, not capable of complex app development.

SWFObject should be your easiest solution, check the tutorial of providing alternative content for SWF file

@Marco The whole Dart generating code still sounds very much weird because it’s a completely different thing to ECMAScript. I’d prefer Typescript which is superset of Javascript, which is still very much alike ECMAScript or Actionscript in the end.

Dart is also not popular despite of being announced for over 1 year. In short I don’t get what is really going on at Adobe HQ, maybe they’re trying to do some PR stuff or damage control after Unity ended relationship with them.

I’m not a fan of computer generated code and native will alway win for performance sake.

It’s already clear that lack of innovation is reason of Adobe’s failure so far. Instead of innovating and focusing on Flash platform core competency, they have alway been in the business of generating cross platform code which hurts performance badly and doesn’t have much success overall.

Animation, gaming and interactivity are very CPU demanding tasks and without optimizing and tuning by tackling native code your fabulous animation just add to the infamous complaints about user’s laptop fan hitting their end cycle of life by opening SWF animation and now generated javascript animation on various web pages.

I heard that Adobe Edge html5 animation tool used jQuery for its animation engine some months ago, not sure if it’s still true but if it is then it’s a terrible idea because jQuery was never meant to be used for intensive animation. You can just expect the same thing with Flash Pro exporting tool.

Bottom line, as much as I love Flash its fate is under Adobe control and their strategy is a sinking ship.

PV3D is too much dated and it used software rendering which gets a lot of performance hits.

You should use Away3D or any recent 3D framework that utilizes Stage3D for better outcome.
