it’s actually feels like plain template with not much content..i suggest you look at vertical rhythm of the theme..and also add content where it fit’s good..i mean to say add extra features + sections on your one page template..
@Envato Staff and co-authors.
I’m currently trying to separate stuff in my theme framework into plugins in order to conform to the phase 2 requirements. Since my next theme will clearly not make it in before November. I’m still pondering on what stuff SHOULD and SHOULD NOT be separated into plugins.
So far, my thoughts are that if the user switches to another theme, all their content should still be intact.. even though they won’t be styled at all.Basically, everything that generates content will be moved to plugins (no styling included):
All else will remain in the theme:
- CPTs with their custom fields and templates
- custom taxonomies
- captcha on forms
- pagebuilder (although this should be transferrable to the normal editor)
- tgm plugin activator
- theme customizer
- theme options
- sidebar generator
- everything else…
One thing that I’m not sure though. Since page custom fields generate content, then technically they should be moved into a plugin. But so far I’m leaning towards simply retaining those in the theme. What do you guys think?@Envato staff, we really need specifics on this. We are currently in the dark
Acutally, styling for all plugins should resides inside plugins only ? Am i right ? Please correct me:)
Just heard some thought about custom post type plugin from justintadlock and now it’s time to asked you guys :
Let’s say I create a directory theme and had a CPT plugin called Listings, it has a lot of custom meta field which I use for search, custom google map.
You are using my theme and want to move to another theme in the same niche. My Listings plugin still work fine but the data and layout output to the front-end look very mess.
If you deactivated my plugin and use new theme with new Listings CPT plugin provide by the new theme author, the CPT data still there but all of custom meta field is different.
Can you tell me how you deal in this case. Please help me out of this
Exactly ! Right now i am also thinking of same problem Can anyone give better solution for this ?
Can anybody tell me, should all CPT should resides into single plugin for we have to create each plugin file for each CPT ?
Wow! Amazing place and I’m so jealous Sorry to hear that the guide turned out to be an a**, but it seems you had the time of your life nevertheless.
I think it’s not proper way of blaming that guide..at that time we have our biggest festival ‘Dashain’, so it’s everybody rights to enjoy and share time with his/her family’s..
