To be honest, I don’t like it – it’s giving you information you could have seen otherwise, besides the image. On the listing pages, it presents nothing new, just extra clutter in my opinion.
I gotcha, but I think the whole point is to allow buyers to quickly view the price/author of an item and thumbnails without having to click through to each one :) Personally, I think it looks great, especially for marketplaces like AudioJungle and ActiveDen etc
Do I have super eyes or does it already display that information right next to the thumbnail?

Before the update over 50% of the thumbnails on the site didn’t have the information right next to the thumbnail (all homepage thumbs, similar items, more by this author, grid view on browse just to name a few), so it really depended on how you browsed the site to whether or not you had all the info at you fingertips.

Why do some of them look like this..

they look ok on the item page.
As we don’t store the width and height of preview images (except on PhotoDune) for items that don’t have a standard preview size we can’t size the window correctly, it’s was like this before this update but I guess it’s just more noticeable now, but to get around it all the author has to do is update their preview image to 590px by 590px (or greater with the height) and it’ll look a 1000 times better.

that cant be right… i looked at one of the images that look wrong its 590×300 (http://1.s3.envato.com/files/5301536/general_view_590x300.jpg) and a image that looks correct (thats 590×300)... (http://2.s3.envato.com/files/5369136/preview.jpg)

so that just cant be right… and plus is 590px by 590px not allowed?

You can upload bigger than 590 by 300, but I just spoke to the devs and as the App category is it’s own item type we’ll update the preview to use the same style as Themeforest. So no need to update your previews on codecanyon, so sorry about the confusion :)

But the 590 by 590 fix still applies to items on the graphicriver and the tutorials marketplace, in most cases all those previews are fine as most authors have tall previews.

still no love for activeden and thumbnail previews or am I missing something?

:inlove: is coming for ActiveDen, had a few small issues as some of the older items on activeden have the flash preview inline but we’ll get it sorted soon.

oh this is much better!

One tip:
I put my cursor over the thumb (the preview popup)
I scroll with the wheel and the cursor is positioned over the next thumb
The preview don’t change.

Looks weird.

I’m Chrome user

When you use the scroll-wheel or PageUp/PageDown technically the mouse hasn’t move to fire off the JavaScript event, only your browser viewport has really moved so that’s why it’s not updating I’m afraid.

Yeah!!! Finally! :D Jason, did I understand you correctly that there will be a static picture preview(on VideoHive), the preview video will not play when you hover your mouse?

Video preview on mouseover are in project pipeline for sure, but moving to previews on mouseover is a big undertaking as we have to reprocess videos to a more suitable size for starters…but yes it is coming!

Before this week is out you’ll be seeing some new mouseover preview across the marketplaces, sneak peek is below.

Depending on the marketplace and item type thumbnails will vary a little (as you can see above) as we have a huge array of preview types to accommodate (audio, website templates, flash etc).

To get the best results for the marketplaces with non-standard image preview sizes e.g. graphicriver & tutorials your previews should be 590px by 590px (or greater in height), most previews should be fine but having your image preview at least 590px high will address the letterbox issue.

For marketplaces like themeforest with standard preview sizes no need for you to change anything.

We’ve still got a few tweaks and other features to add to the new previews but we hope you like the first release.

Hi THP ,

If you go to your submission and follow the edit item link you’ll see what needs to be corrected on each submission e.g. . Improvements to the validation messages were made earlier today so it should be pretty straight forward to fix up your items and submit them for review.

For photos that require a release form if you only have a few photos I’d recommend you use the Web Uploader over the FTP service as the Web Uploader allows you to attach release forms on a per submission basis whereas the FTP service is more tailored for bulk submission from one photo shoot or photos without release forms.

We’ve still got a few things in the works to improve both upload methods so stay tuned.

We’ve got two new shiny upload services ready for testing on PhotoDune. So jump on in and give them a whirl and post your feedback in this thread.

  1. Web Uploader – If you’ve only got a few items to upload this is the best method for getting your photos onto PhotoDune.
  2. FTP Uploader – Our FTP service is suitable for photographers with larger portfolios, follow our step by step instructions on get started with the FTP .

Note: Be sure all photos contain IPTC data for Title, Description, and Tags (max 50) as we’ll automically extract these from both uploaders.

If you’re having any issues with either services you can still use the classic uploader.

any plans on making a full statement downloadable like you used to have? i hate downloading each month and combine them.

I’ve dropped in a ticket for the devs, will aim to get it out before the next statement cycle.
