Here’s an export for the last 90 days based on number of searches, items in bold are top performers $$$ wise
- low poly game model (due to the bundle)
- cinema 4d, c4d
- low poly, lowpoly
Overhauling search is one of the major projects the dev team is currently working on, stage one is replacing the current service with Solr (currently only PhotoDune is running on Solr), once all the Marketplaces are on Solr we’ll be moving onto the part I’m most excited about which is introducing tailored facets per marketplace.
Here are a few examples from some early concepts (so subject to change) to give you an idea of where we’re heading.
Ummmm, I think my 6000+ posts is the most and the record… how come i’m not top of that list
update pleaseedit: just looked, Lance has less than 3k posts and thats even if you combine both his accounts… where are you getting these stats from lol?
All fixed now, we filtered out a few too many staff/mods and had some false positives re spammers…spam is in the eye of the beholder I guess lol
For those using the marketplace API service we’ve got a few small changes in the pipeline with the first update just being released today.
If you head over to your “My Settings” page and expand the API section you’ll see you can now generate multiple API key and label them, basically this gives you the ability to create keys for different apps and if need revoke the access at a later date.
While the application for this update is a little limited we’ll be adding Read/Write access controls in the near future which will make multiple API keys all the more useful.
Later today you’ll notice a few minor changes to some of the headings & body copy styles throughout the sites.
The biggest change you’ll notice is font replacement has been removed from all headings bar H1s, the rest are pretty minor (see if you can spot them ) and this tidy up makes way for other design changes in the works.
Changes are most apparent on the item page, example below.
Theme ratings do not affect sales.
I totally agree and I’ve looked at the stats/trends in great detail and there’s pretty much 0.00 correlation with rating having an impact on sales.
To share a little of the data with you out of 2.3 million ratings here’s a breakdown by stars
1 Star 0.77% 2 Stars 1.33% 3 Stars 5.66% 4 Stars 16.37% 5 Stars 75.86%
As you can see the amount of buyers rating 3 or lower is only 7.7%, 4+ is 92.3%!
So my advice don’t put 90% of your effort into keeping that 1 irate custom happy (in most cases they’ll never be happy), focus on the bulk of your reasonable and happy customers.
That sounds great Jason! One question: could you guys write the plugin in a way that we can easily implement it directly into our themes so the user doesn’t have to install a plugin?
Yes I’m sure you’ll be able to rip the code out of the plugin and integrated it directly into your theme with a little bit work. But it might be best to wait a little while after it’s first rolled out before investing too much time adding it into your theme as I’m sure we’ll make a few tweaks to the service post launch.
Regarding the questions around warning users before updating themes if they’ve customized it, we’ll have a simple alert to tell them to backup everything before proceeding and maybe a awesome animated gif like the following for good measure
Phase 2 & 3 of this project are extending the service for plugins & childthemes, so I’d recommend putting some time into looking at to making childthemes moving forward as it mitigates a lot of issues around updating themes.
