I was thinking about the same. For me, as my portfolio is made mostly of styles and actions (obvious price 4-5$) it was an 30% + increase.

I’ve checked my sales with surcharge in august and it was around 56 items sold with surcharge, that makes around 76$. So now I’ll loose this every month :/

Conclusion: ADD-ONS Category needs a price increase, while you deleted extended sell possibility and changed it as tools to be used infinitely for only 4-5$ + now no surcharge bonus…

+1 I find it hard to believe that buyers wouldn’t pay an extra dollar or two on top of the current add-on price.

That’s good to know – I just quit my day job and I’m slightly below the 40% with all of my online endeavors!

Career guru Dan miller suggests getting your side job up to 40% of you day job pay before quitting. If you can do 40 % with a day job then you can easily replace the rest of your income once you devote your full time effort.

Between $400 – $600 per month. It makes a real difference if you are able to regularly upload items and I’ve had less time to create new ones as I’m in the middle of organizing my wedding and moving house!

I just actually quit my job! I’ll be fulltime GR and freelancer in a few weeks!

Not that I’m gloating or anything! :)

Sales are very up and down. I had a really slow weekend, selling only 2 items and then I sold 18 in four hours today – weird!

Over all not the best month and not the worst – 102 so far.

I don’t like writing negative posts but as someone who mainly creates add-ons I’m very disappointed that there’s been no change to the prices in this category. I wonder why?

I can’t imagine that customers wouldn’t buy an item if it were a dollar or two more but that would make a big difference to the monthly turnover of authors such as myself.

What with that and the drop in quality of many of the recent items (particularly in Illustrator add-ons), I’m becoming a little disillusioned with the market place of late.

I resigned from my full-time job a few days ago and I’m going to be making stuff for Graphicriver (and a few other places) full-time from two months time!

I’ve been steadily building my portfolio over a couple of years (working lots of evenings when I get home from work) and although I’m not earning enough to support myself yet, I’ve estimated that I’ll match my current full-time design salary within a year…

I’m lucky enough to have a girlfriend who will be supporting me as I work towards my goal and without this kind of help, I think it would take years to build a big enough portfolio.

I think the main thing is not to rely on just one from of income, Envato, like any business has it’s ups and downs and you also have to rely on the US dollar doing well (which it currently isn’t against the UK sterling :( )so if going full time into something like this, I’d make sure you have multiple income sources.
