Thanks for sharing. I wouldn’t have known about the campaign otherwise and I love those projects. I’ve added a small amount too, I hope it helps
Great article. I remember my first 5 products here were Joomla Templates. It was fun but I didn’t find Joomla challenging enough to learn new technology. That’s when I moved on to Wordpress learnt PHP, JS etc. Now I find myself doing node js and ruby on rails projects. Most clients I have come across in the last year or so are not interested in Joomla.
Please please put it back. Do we have to beg?
No Man, you can’t say you are too stupid
Managing a server is a great learning experience but it can be a real pain. It is ok 90% of the time but the 10% when things go wrong you will pull some of your hairs out and wish you had paid someone to worry about that 10%.
A few weeks ago a buyer gave a 1 star rating on one of our themes (I have a few accounts here and partnerships). A few minutes earlier he had left a comment asking for help but he had not given us a chance to reply. I sent him a message and almost immediately he admitted that he had made a mistake and rated the wrong item. He went on and changed the rating to 5 stars and said he loved the product and apologized multiple times.
So yes, I think if we had a way to contact buyers who give low ratings it would greatly improve the situation. At least they would be held accountable.
Overall this proposal is 99% the same as before. The only thing that has changed is that it is now opt in which really isn’t a choice given how marketplaces work and you stated that the prices will be the same. We already rejected the previous plan. Your should leave support alone, maybe add clearer definitions about what is included in support and then charge for updates or yearly licenses. That is where the value is. A solution to those pesky 1 star ratings needs to be found.
- Buyers should pay for updates – you’ve monetized the wrong thing. We are already offering support for free
- If you insist on charging for support then items with opt in support should not be priced the same as those that are not. It is simply not fair to anyone.
- If you are going to take 30% for the cut you have to offer something in return. You already are taking at least 30% of the item price.
My 2 cents.
Trolling the trolls….very funny indeed
