As far as the stock footage becoming an independent marketplace. It seems to be a bit “young” with 64.000 items and with various qualities of clips comparing with other places. So i think it will take some time/years until it can reach the appropriate numbers and quality in order to stand alone. Just guessing..
@SmallScreen Sounds like an idea worth considering
I don’t think cutting of the extended licence from 10x to 3x was a good move. Or at least it should be differentiated.
i’m quite sure that if he were alive right now he would be ecstatic of the hardware & software improvement since then and i bet he would be an AE geek!
one the practical side of things,
the camera movement needs improving / smoothing. The detail level could be far more minimal or with far more detail but now it’s on the middle, not good. The music doesn’t fit with the video and the time length short
and as Zerolink mentioned above, the most important thing is the question “What purpose does it serve?”
I hope this is helpful. Everything is subjective off course and this is my opinion.
one possible solution could be to change the purchase system of stock video like it is right now on photodune. Depending on the dimensions of the item and off course the production value of the clip. Right now many authors have the same items for different dimensions. I can’t see how this can be considered as ergonomic.
Imho milestone threads are just flooding the forum with useless threads/info. Nonetheless though if some people need this kind of ego/sales boost it would be wonderful if there was a specific section for this kind of posts and keep the main vh forum free of countless congratulations.
excellent work!! search through items = piece of cake! nice
i don’t know if that helps you but a different approach is to create your own textures (thinking long-term). Personally this is what i do. In most places i go i have a camera and taking pictures of things i like and which seem useful to compositing & design. Afterwards fix them in Photoshop and then categorize them in my personal library. As the time pass the library gets bigger & bigger and starts to cover your projects at a good percent, sometimes even 100%.
