I really doubt it that envato will do anything, the price dumping is what got them here at the first place.
You have to keep in mind that price model is usually one of the last things that go because its the most influential change that can be made.
And majority of company’s stick with same system until they see a drop which keeps on dropping, i mean a massive drop, after that it’s usually to late and the ship goes down.
Until there money keeps going up the prices will stay down and no change will be made, just check Avada every few month the bar goes up and the lower part of popular list stay the same.
Exclusivity of those items with the very low price keeps envato were they are… on the top and with competitive markets having what… 500 000 users tops? And envato over 5 mil well do the mat… the system is here to stay.
Yea well, even niche themes now days seems to cannot find a solution to competition and are going to bloated plugin 10+ sub niche way to compete.
No end here. Not so much skill is required any more, you take some free framework, pack it wit plugins, code 200 lines all together and submit.
50% of your time is spent for building 10+ demos. This will go until clients start seeing things differently.
Yea but spending 10 to 12 hours behind my computer And constantly pulling my hair out one questions like hooooooooow ooo hooow can something go so up and then in matter of days go so drastically down X(
No way this happens on TF Good for you! We just experienced 50% drop of income from one week to another. So… a sad end of February and star of April .
When were starting, there were no good free frameworks, nobody used slider plugins and visual composer etc. The main talk back then was either we will go responsive or not :/
Nowadays, you take frameworks, essential grid, visual composer and one of the sliders and with all styling settings you don’t even need to right almost any code
Now we all have to pack up to be competitive, sad really sad
The main problem here is the API for the purchase code, which is outdated.
- we cannot track multiple sites (1 key can be easily used for multiple site support)
- Sharing the key
So in this manor we are literary loosing thousands of dollars, we got quite a few clients that were trying to get support for 1 theme licence for more sites/projects and then when confronted extortion started with ratings bad comments etc.
About the pirate sites, nobody actually protects you, just few days ago i had to submit 13 DMCA notices, I am glad 10 went down but still from those links 2 remain and who knows how many more.
Similar themes existed before they got up there, but as i recall they were one of the first bundling in layer slider. Which was back them a wow…. and it took off and never stopped from then
If all buyers tough’t like you it would be great. But reality is a bit harsh, people just like free junk. We also include few plugins, but for example we resist including one of the major plugins that somehow everybody feels it should be there, not knowing we offer a much simpler solution inbuilt.
This is just one example but hey everybody wants “free” stuff even if they hardly need it.
