Welcome fellow Texan! Good luck to you.
I once thought that I needed a huge portfolio full of diversity would make loads of sales. I do not think this is correct since the top authors do not have that many. Should I upload new items frequently each week? Not necessarily so since the top authors upload items sporadically. Hmmmmm…....so how do they do it? Is there a secret? I did think that if you were on AJ for a long time then you would become more established. Some top authors have more sales in less time than me. This is a curious and difficult puzzle to solve. I have not got a clue how they do it but well done to them!
I too used to think that a larger portfolio is true across the board, for me, it still is. The important thing is a tracks market value, commercial viability, and how relevant the track is (of course mixing/mastering quality). Many author have a knack for that “commercial” feel, no matter what genre they maybe into. A track can have great mixing and mastering, but if it doesn’t have the general appeal, its not going to do well. Established authors can stand not have hundreds in their portfolio because they have a built market base for their style with proven value, often deleting what doesn’t work. However, younger authors may need a diverse larger portfolio until they’ve built up a consistent sale record and develop their own style, some sooner than others. Myself, I’m terrible at writing what appeals, hence over 150 tracks with mishmash crap So I just write whatever I’m in the mood to write, and pretty much pray for the best. Good luck and cheers!
Right On! Continued success in the future.
Why HAHA? That should WooHOOOO!!! Congratulations
Thank you kindly for the support of my peers. Some of you are a source of great inspiration to me on this site (you know who you are). Cheers and Happy Holidays!
After two and a half years, we’ve finally gone silver. Thank you kindly to the Envato Market Place for making it a really nice Christmas for our family. Here’s to more prosperity in the coming new year. Cheers!
Oh, I suggest minimum of 8-12 gigs of RAM. Cheers!
Logic X kicks ass on OSX Maverick. Crazy amount of free loops, instruments and plugins for $199. It’s a no brainer. LOVE IT!
