Good job Sam!
I hope the shoe at the bottom of this photo was used to roundhouse kick anyone that tried to remove the logo.
I’m with jhunger, I can’t really copy things, since I always end up going in a different direction I hadn’t anticipated. I think I emulated quite well a popular modern composer’s style with the orchestral parts on some of my tracks. Have a listen to my track The Lost Moment, and guess who it is. (I think it would be easy to guess.)
Nice track but I can’t think of an exact song it’s inspired by. I can imagine Thom Yorke from Radiohead singing over it though. Sounds great!
I have actually tried that a couple of times, and what I end up with utterly fails to compare with the original. Either I’m not skilled enough or I get a track or two down and then it goes in a different direction.
On the other hand I’ve written a couple of songs that I think are perfectly original to then realize sometimes years later that they’re a little too similar to a famous track. The thing that keeps me up at night is that I’ll accidentally copy somebody’s work (that I’ve possibly never even heard) and get sued for it .At the risk of getting my post flagged , I also do think this belongs in Item Discussion if we’re posting links…
If you get sued just use this post as your defence! I agree that item discussion is prob more suited for this discussion. My mistake!
What do you think would be the most ridiculous track to try recreate? Imagine an Audiojungle Bohemian Rhapsody! I’d buy that!
If a staff member can delete my link then that would save any trouble. I don’t see how posting this thread is promoting myself. Promoting myself to who? It’s was just a topic i thought was pretty interesting. Everyone else other than Art Of Sound seems to realise that. Some cool replies though. Loving the Howard Dietz quotes!
“Teardrop” for sure I love the song (House MD opener)!!
I have to agree with studio26 – sometimes i´m trying to get some feel or “sound” of some famous track but it always end up way different LOL
But no worrites – on some other stocks there are music categories named “Sounds-a-like”Personally i dont see a problem being inspired by some famous tracks unless it falls into “stealing” category If you write some 3/4 song using Accordeon and Glockenspiel you wont be sued by Tiersen LOL
It was indeed Teardrop. Love that song too. I also agree with studio26 that a track will always end up having your own personal sound and feel regardless of where you start. After all, even the most famous songwriters in the world say everything is stolen from somewhere! I dont ever try and re-create a track, just get inspired and influenced by the mood and sound of certain tracks. This Teardrop-style track was one of my first tracks and was a little too close to the original and it gave me a chuckle so i thought i’d share.
This might be a strange thread but I am guilty of it so I thought I’d ask for a bit of fun.
Have any of you heard a famous track and thought “I want to record a tune like that” and tried to re-create the vibe. If people cant afford to use hit songs we can offer the next best thing. I’ll avoid using the term “ripping off” because after all, we’re making backing music.
Here’s a track of mine from a while ago that was inspired by a famous tune. See if you can guess which one and feel free to post your own.http://audiojungle.net/item/drifting/861495
After watching this Im quitting music. There’s no way I could ever emulate such a masterpiece. Music has reached it’s pinnacle.
