“the ** who murdered flash”
I’ll confess it outright, in the past i’ve kept an eye out on when my paw might change so I could do a little extra self promotion and put my name in a small spotlight even if it were only for the few buyers eyes it might catch.
And I’m pretty sure most of us do this or have done so before.
nice! You may want to consider “slowmotion” where ‘effect’ scenes are used. The trembling of the arms is either too much or too little. Maybe use a short time-span expanded for slomo effect or make the ‘spasms’ more extreme in realtime?

1- Complaining does not lead anywhere. 2- In fact I am enjoying my time with Air mobile these days a lot. 3- I will probably join you in your HTML5 efforts. 4- By then it will be a lot more mature than today.
hehe
1) that’s not true … at all! never had to call customer services in your life? If so I envy you lol
2) ok, but that’s not exactly the same as creating flash animations
3) that might be difficult, since i doubt i’ll ever start with HTML5 as a serious animation-substitute
4) i’m still waiting for the first “wow” html5 animation, might take a while so don’t keep your hopes up hehe

The point is despite how naturally good it is, the open web is ultimately controlled and driven by large corporations (Apple, Google, MS, Adobe…) there is nothing you can do about, embracing it or quitting for good is matter of choice.
After most of flash use has died out such as templates and banners and so on, there will probably remain two things alive, unity/gaming and high-end animation. From my portfolio only the visually more impressing stuff remains selling, the rest is as good as rip.

Canvas API let you do pretty much everything like Flash Player 8 several years ago. Along with some interesting features in CSS3 that make up the word html5
Very soon developer will be able to do bitmap filter effect with hardware accelerated in CSS , things that we have enjoyed doing in BitmapData but again with much lower level API .
The future of Flash is in Adobe’s hands and they think its game development. You can’t just do it differently.
flash 8, wow, hope we can use animated gifs soon haha
“Very soon .. bitmap”... and who thinks that developers will spend months creating commercial html5 animation routines on a buggy platform crossbrowser and end up finding them ripped from page source code right after releasing them?
As long as html5 hasn’t reached the level of flash player 10/11 capabilities, I won’t be touching it any day soon.
@tsafi, yup, i too have moved to greener grasses and retired from flash for now, lately i’ve started doing a little in video editing/projects, that’s quit fun too.
In a nutshell… “animation” is dead, real hardcore visual photorealistic / special effect animations. All which was taken from flash’s heritage by the surge of html5 is some tweeny stuff and a bunch of functionality routines. Nothing visually impressing, nothing I’d lift my head for laying on the couch watching tv remembering flash’s days of “oh wow, now that’s cool!”
html5 is boring boring boring
boring
I currently have a request (freelance job) for a cartoon type of 3D animation, using a cartoon character, and since it’s not really my expertise I’m considering outsourcing.
To those interested, contact me through my profile and I’ll give some more of the details.
Basic project information
40 to 90 sec animation about security procedures in an auditorium/theater (escape routes, emergency exits, fire extinguishers etc).
- auditorium/theater will need to be have visual of the actual theater (i might do that myself but whoever has interest, specify if you are or are not able to include/create that part and recalculate your price accordingly)
Mascot:- final version will need basic flexibility (needs to be able to walk, talk, move his arms, point hands/finger and so on)
Characteristics;
• Young, working age and Male
• Strong, in a healthy generic style
• Realistic looking, not a caricature, facial expressions important.
• Someone who gives the sense of confidence, whose facial expressions you can trust.
• Moreno, Brazilian looking. Below is one example we showed them.
Character will need company uniform, so with logo on cap/uniform and will put on a fireman’s helmet
! 3 to 4 different versions, after second meeting a more concrete idea of final version will be discussed.
Timetable 2 weeks for initial demonstration versions. Whoever is interested, give me a quote with a bit of leniency upwards in your price. Expect a little bit of extra time needed adjusting and post-editing. I’ll be outsourcing it so I will only act as intermediary and pass price-quotes on to my customer (he’s the one who’ll be presenting the demos to his customer)
No full animation yet needed, only demo versions of the character variations. But also include a rough quote of your price of a final 40-90 second animation according to specs above. To avoid surprises later.
Contact me through my profile contact form P.
seriously? i echo.. that’s sad
