Hey all, just a quick forum thread to let you know about some changes in our Envato management team. Specifically, I’ve decided to return and direct the Marketplaces a little more closely
I’d like to believe this will have me in the forums a bit more often, though I have to admit it may also mean that my time evaporates even more :-/ Either ways, I’m pretty excited!!
I feel like I need a 100 day plan like Presidents get when they take their new job
Hey folks!! I’m just going around and checking up on where our discussions have gotten to, and looks like we’ve got lots to go through – and a nice mix of big company feedback and how the marketplaces really need to be improved
Selina from our comms team is going to pull it all into one place for me, and then we’ll be discussing internally everything you guys have posted and feeding back a plan for the future!
I’ve unstickied this thread, but will leave it open for people to keep adding thoughts!! Thanks guys!
Here at HQ we’ve been talking a lot about our Vision for 2020, to give us a long term goal to be working towards. This is a bigger picture part of our work, and helps inform the day to day priorities and goals we all have. In particular as CEO, this is a big part of my job. Essentially future-proofing Envato!
You can read all about it on Inside.Envato and there’s a video from me too
A big piece of our vision is helping our community succeed, and as such we really wanted to get the community’s input. I’m happy to take absolutely any input really, but ideally would really want to hear answers to the questions:
(1) In the context of the Envato ecosystem, what does success mean to you?
(2) What do you want to achieve through our sites? What new things and in what new ways could we be helping you succeed?
(3) What would it look like for the whole community to be succeeding?
Discuss away here on the forums, or on Inside.Envato, or there’s an anonymous form, or you can chat at Microlancer’s blog or Tuts+’ blog! Selina from my comms team is going to be collecting it all up, and helping collate everything for myself and the team. I’m expecting there to be a lot of discussion
Hey folks! I’ve been on paternity leave (I have a brand new second son woohoo and have been spending the time wandering about the internet and looking at what’s out there. These days I don’t have that much time to do this, so it’s been pretty eye opening. So much cool stuff out there!!!
Anyhow I’ve come across a lot of new CMSes and Static File Generators. I was wondering what the community thinks in terms of theming opportunities for them all. Is it worth looking into categories/most-wanted/etc or are they too small?
For example, there seem to be lots and lots of Static Site Generators and things that make use of Jekyll and Github Pages (e.g. Prose) and products like Craft, Siteleaf, Statamic, Scriptogram, Virb, etc.
What do you guys think? What are the CMS trends that we should be on top of for 2014?
Thanks for the insights Collis!
Envato is really a great place to be!
Collis, would you please try to release video updates more often in 2014? They are simply awesomeSee you in 2014!
Absolutely! I was meeting with Helen this afternoon who was saying she’s hoping to organize more! And Josh and Naysan have been pitching me on a round the world trip to try to meet and document community stories. Not sure if it’ll happen, but would be supercool
Thanks guys!! Was really excited to share the total community earnings tally It’s amazing what this author community has done, it kind of boggles my mind and makes me very proud to say that I’m part of this community.
wow, really interesting take on the turn of events in the past 7 years at Envato, which also happens to coincide with 11/12/13.
Postponed part of the article for reading later today at 14:15:16Good timing collis
Oh man that is awesome, we should totally have published at that exact time!!!
