Wow, i have never heard of this type of thing, it sounds like a sweet idea. I dont think there will be any near where i live though… ... so are you encouraged to do any group projects there, where one week someone will help you then the next you help them? it sounds interesting.

@dtbaker can you please update us on what the staff say and if you just do it without Envato.

I like the idea, I think it may be a bit complex to implement on Envato, unless you sold it like a normal script and from there they can have the option to use the purchase key on hosted or self hosted scripts and have it so once its used it cant be reused… so basically, not have it as another item on Envato, unless Envato made a certain category/licence for this and even if they said yes it would take a year to implement with all the other stuff going on.

I seen on envato notes theres a framework for automatic updates for wordpress themes so hopefully that will come to plugins and i can use that for a plugin framework, any other ideas that people would like?

But yh, I do agree it should be done quicker but you need to get it up with no problems so it is hard and thats why it takes time, Im sure you have this already but you should have some sort of beta site so things can get demoed and seen.. + we wont have problems where the elite badge goes because someone was messing with some code

Thinking about the donations thing agree but i think i will put a share button but just have it minimalist (maybe in the footer or something).

As for the update feature I would make it work off a custom update server (so when i have a update i would update the DB) but download from the Envato servers via the API

I have noticed there are quite a few theme frameworks around for Wordpress that are helping some Authors on themeforest make their themes that bit better, but there are non for plugins.

I know that developers can just make their own code but I was thinking what would people want from a framework?

I was thinking:

• Upgrading (Envato specific)
• Licensing before install (Envato specific)
• Child Plugins
• Share & Donate buttons (just extra marketing)

Can anyone think of any extra ideas?

Maybe I will build it one day and make it available on Github for Authors to download free and make their own versions on top of whats there.
