I haven’t encountered anyone using CS4 in the professional world for years.

I can imagine! CS6 is a selfish little guy using all my resources much better than old CS4 . Even I tremble at the thought of using CS4 now…

I was thinking the same last night. We could expect new 2d/3d software from Andrew Kramer. :)

Watch him call it “Atom” ;) I mean he already has a great 3D “system” in Element and a great lens flare environment from Optical Flares, he’s not too far off from creating his own 2D/3D software! I think the next thing the VC Team will make is a truly dynamic particle system like RealFlow/Particular etc.

Yes, definitely upgrade that RAM , 4GB is extremely bare minimum. It’s also the cheapest to upgrade :)

It’s a little muddy in my opinion, but yes, DVDs are definitely extended license:

The Regular License could be used for any of the following: - Single advert, whether on radio, TV or the internet. - Single promotional video.

The Extended License could be used for any of the following: - Single film or TV show.

tv station need to buy the extended license so they already pay a higher price

That’s true, but not all tv stations do this, especially the smaller/local stations. Sometimes it may not even be the stations fault, but more of the designer’s fault. It’s unfortunate, but I’ve seen it happen.

Most definitely, I’ll be needing to upgrade my graphics card as well for my PC build. Unfortunately, I can’t do the same for the iMac haha.

I’m still currently using CS5 , works fine for me so I never really had the incentive to jump onto the CS5 .5 or CS6 version. Based on my experience playing with trial, I completely lost the ray tracing hype. It’s cool, but nothing mind blowing that I would use at least in this version. Though I am loving the caching and CC Environment stuff :)

I think there’s room for a slight increase in the price point.
I agree, as for the trend the last few years, the pricing has definitely decreased while human labor per project has increased dramatically. Felt you bring up an interesting point.

I’m definitely liking this awesome new update, makes me feel better for not updating to CS5 .5. My strongest like is probably the ray-trace render engine and the cache management.

I think it’s time for an SSD :P

By the way Mr Tips, great quick overview! Mind if I embed the two tutorials on my blog? :)
