Oh man, I just feel like the bugs are going to come rolling in when this happens, a completely new rendering engine in one of the most used browsers, that sad thing is that so many users won’t know that this is happening, so in the ‘teething’ period where everyone is having to basically test ‘blink’ on production sites, any blink users will be thinking that quite a few sites are bugged.

Or is there an open beta that we can get onto that I’m being too stupid to see? :)

That’s understandable, here’s all I’m thinking;

Sometimes a theme simply can’t do everything you need, I was amazed when I saw Fundify and thought, wow! Someone has managed to not only make a WordPress crowdfunding theme, but also release it through ThemeForest!

What I’m leaning toward, is as the complexity of a project increases, the need to have a developer on board also increases.

If you can’t find a theme that does exactly what you need, then be sure to ask for some quotes off some of the guys around here, they just might be able to help you out :)

Good luck!

I wonder if you could put something like this together using Fundify?

http://themeforest.net/item/fundify-crowdfunding-wordpress-theme/4257622?WT.ac=weekly_feature&WT.seg_1=weekly_feature&WT.z_author=AppThemer

That allows you to have projects and backers, I can’t image it would take much tweaking to modify this behaviour to more of a freelance marketplace situation.

Hey there tgroup,

I’m the WordPress author of theGrid and I’ll be happy to help. The issue you describe was actually fixed in an update some time ago in theGrid’s early release. If you log into the account which bought the theme in ThemeForest then you’ll be able to download the newest version (2.0.0) which also includes great new features.

As Dzinc mentioned, we cannot help you whilst you are posting with an account which has made 0 ThemeForest purchases, so be sure to login with the correct account next time :)

@Dzinc, this question has now been answered and a full solution given, I’d appreciate it being closed from here :)

Tom

+1 … this would be a great feature. Users expect authors to be around 24/7 and get frustrated when they are not. An official badge would help combat that frustration and hopefully some would be more understanding.

Exactly this, the idea would just be to atleast inform buyers/potential buyers why they might not be getting a response for a couple of days. It would just help ensure every single buyer is informed all along the way and not just the ones that email us or use support forums.

Hey everyone,

I’ll be going on holiday in June which is going to take me away from an internet connection for about 5 days. I’m sure this idea has been mentioned before but it would be amazing if we could have an author ‘on holiday’ banner.

So far I’m able to do this on my support system, and set an auto-responder on my emails, the last link in the chain here is Envato.

I realise a simple text entry could be abused, so this feature could be kept specifically for announcing a period of silence, here’s how I see it working.

  1. We go to “Author Settings” and click the new “Enable Holiday Banner” checkbox.
  2. We now have two date entires, “From” and “To” that’s it.
  3. A standardised message is now opened above each of our items;
Hi, I’m on holiday from $date to $date and therefore unable to answer item comments and support questions during this period, I’ll respond to all correspondence after my return.

4. And more importantly, the same or similar message is applied to the comments section above the comments text entry to remind and ‘less observant’ users.

Honestly, this would be really easy to implement, and would take a lot of stress of us authors for these periods knowing that at least the last link in the chain of screaming has been covered.

Anyway, just a thought – I hope you’re interested Dev’s ;)
