If the price was higher while on hold i would have possibly not wanted to delete it. The uploader tool here has been way too much trouble though for big packs and to hold items for a text file that would not have much to say just seems to be not worth it to keep uploading yet again.
What is funny to me now is that yesterday i got some of the freebies for this month and one of them had no readme. Some of the others that had them did not even have any info in regards to using the products. So to be honest with that and the fact it was just images with no instructions needed i don’t even think that item had much reason be put on hold anyway, so i am not sure why i had to go through all this trouble to start with.
I did not try to reply to them directly as i deleted the email but i was trying to get some feedback from the staff/reviewers here first through the site feedback area which had no reply and then here. One thing i have learned though is envato does not read or reply to the forum.
It is too late now for that textures pack and i don’t plan on trying to upload it again as i have wasted far to much time with this, i might maybe try adding some new textures at some point if envato decides to make it simpler to upload and edit on hold items though but for now i will just be uploading to audiojungle. I still like the envato sites but im just not too happy with 3dOcean right now and the whole uploading steps. Thanks for trying to help me though WildeMedia.

Bump
I am a bit disappointed to be honest that nobody from envato has given a reply or commented on these ideas. Before all this other than some questionable pricing on items
That pack that i had so much trouble with will be going on another marketplace now as i see in the hidden section it’s already listed for only $3 which i am not really happy with as it is way too low if it was to be sold. Maybe that is some sort of temp price though until it is updated though however i am no longer wanting to upload it here on this marketplace as envato failed to give any interest to this, the uploading problems here and the textures pack is priced way too low.
I cannot find a way to remove my hidden items, how do i delete the item from my hidden list?
Edit -
I have just found it now, you have to edit the item to do so – Item deleted

Well i think they can be useful in some cases like suggested although not for everything (like images as it’s fairly obvious what they do) so it should be optional. When i have purchased content online for example other than things like website templates that need steps to install it’s rare they have any info i need or don’t already know.
I don’t really want a direct contact really as the email accounts get spam listed quickly and i would just get loads of spam and scams. The contact thing is available on our Profile page so i can be sent a email simply by buyers i am guessing.
So yeah i don’t have a huge thing against a txt file although i don’t think it should be forced and if products are going to get rejected based on these they should definitely make it a separate upload to the main zip otherwise it just wastes everyone time as with 3d file sizes can be large and the uploader is buggy still. As i said before i am not really cool with uploading a 80+ MB pack 3X or more to get it visible and i doubt other members are either when on some other sites it’s simple steps. Hopefully my posts don’t seem negative and i hope envato is open to listening to ideas like this as i honestly think it would make uploading much simpler and also faster.

Thanks everyone, as well as making the text doc a separate upload i think envato should make a template also people can download and edit. I am guessing all they want is exactly like what i said above though so it seems like there would not be much need for it for some products like the one i had.
I like envato a lot compared to other marketplaces but nowadays i expect to be wasting lots of time when i decide to upload things not only because they take a while with the uploader that can sometimes fail but also after they are done. This sadly puts me off doing it to be honest other than on audiojungle which is very simple compared to graphicriver and 3docean i have found as it’s less time uploading and there is not rejections or re-uploads needed based on things like image previews or missing text files. Hopefully they will consider making these changes and also make it apply only where needed like models where the buyers may need to follow steps to get it working or just make it optional and then reviewers request one as a separate upload if they feel it is really required.

Since nobody replied to my previous thread and the forum area it is in seems to get not many posts im going to split it into a separate topic in the hope someone will read this.
http://3docean.net/forums/thread/uploader/24653 – Originals (different to this post)
Im annoyed that after having uploaded this pack and it worked my item gets rejected due to a single text file not being included. Basically im asked to upload the pack a 3rd time with the added text file which would be like 1KB or something compared to the pack which was about 90MB and is slow to upload with my connection. So if a text file is thought to be needed (not really imo for what im uploading) why not just make it like uploading the thumb or preview etc so you add it to a separate bit rather than wasting lots of time uploading again if the item is rejected.
I honestly think this is fairly pointless for image based textures also which is what it was and the info if any would be exactly the same as on the page. Apart from loading into any image editor which supports the formats but im guessing anyone buying it would know this but otherwise for this pack there was nothing extra to say really. So yeah sorry for making a separate thread for a complaint but im slightly annoyed about this and don’t plan on attempting to upload that same pack again really and the others did not have a text doc but hopefully someone will reply/help here. Thanks

One thing i don’t like is the uploaders seem buggy (recently posted about this) and then you can wait for a long time and then you can get told the item has problems etc so whenever i upload here i now expect to be waiting around for a few days. This puts me off from uploading and with 3d/high res textures the items can be much higher file sizes so it means having to upload for longer also.
Recently one that would not upload which i wasted a long time on worked the second time which took around the same wait, after i wait a day or 2 i now get told i need to include some text file with the description in the main zip yet this seems pointless because i did not do this for the last few packs and they are being sold, that info is on the item page and it was just image textures so there is not much you need to know other than that really anyway. So i doubt i will bother with that pack now as i will have to upload the zip all over again which takes a long time and i have already done twice now then wait a few more days etc and in the future i will probably just upload single textures rather than packs if they will take those as it means wasting much less time with the upload part.
I agree about the commission rates, as people say envato is great but the cut it takes seems too much even with the chance to earn back percentages the more you sell. The sites seem very nice in general though and i hope they change that to give sellers a better deal at some point.
Maybe the reason why HDRI does so well is because unless they are digital you need a special camera etc so it is harder to create for many people. With other 3d stuff though it’s getting more and more easy to make these days with new apps and as technology advances so sold content could be getting less popular maybe.

Sales have been slow for me also, i was hoping they would get better but even though im in the top 30 sellers here im not doing so great recently either. I think things will get better over time though as the marketplace gets more popular.
For the whole low sales though people have to remember also these days a lot of people just download off dodgey sites and don’t want to buy anything. Type ‘graphicriver’ with a space in google and look at the keyword suggestions it gives, thankfully 3DOcean as a keyword does not yet do that but im guessing it’s still happening. It is a lot harder to sell digital products online these days but there is always honest people and professionals that will buy and support people though which is good.

The 3DOcean uploader definitely seems to be broken, it did not keep the files stored either so i have to upload again each time -

Or at least for me as i have had a few errors doing this now, i did not try again yesterday but im uploading now so hopefully it works this time.
