So here’s a couple of videos of the synth in action I made recently. It still needs a fair bit of work as I found when letting a couple of guys test it out but this gives you a little idea of what it does. (I still need to make some cool sound presets too to show its real potential).
I’ve now also decided to release the patch so that anyone can open it up and mess with it, but that won’t be for a little while yet. Lots of things still to tidy up, change and add. Let me know what you think so far!https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=0aYLy8-0r04 https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=kdHauNQNdp4
SoundFix saidNice! Would like to try it… What course are you doing?
Had to make some sort of instrument in Max for part of my DIgital Signal Processing module at university and now it’s nearly finished. You can pretty much see what the features are in the screenshot below, although the step sequencer has a few not-so-clear things going on…
Anyone else use Max and has made something interesting? (I know Will Bedford is a bit of a Max wizard ;))
Here’s a screenshot. I’ll be doing a video later and will post a link, if you’re interested
Well when it’s done and I figure out how i’m going to make it available i’ll let people know via this thread.
I’m studying MA Music Production (It’s awesome!)
Looks very nice. A big applause for the amount of work you must have put in there!
I worked with Max in the past when it was still part from Upcode and only available on Mac. I tried the demo of Max 5 I think now 2 years ago, but never had unfortunately the time to really pick it up again. Seeing this makes me want to go back againKeep up the good work and curious to hear a demo.
Thanks dude! You should, and Max 6 is awesome as it has some nice improvements that make it easier to use. Get a trial and see how it goes
Wow, looks like an epic bit of work there! I have no idea what Max is but building your own synth sounds cool. Nice one
Max is basically a bit of visual programming software that lets you make almost anything you can think of. It’s so addictive. The only problem is that when I’m programming something in Max, I lose the craving to write music, I guess because they’re both creative.
Must say that looks really interesting. Good job, are you going to demo it for us?
Thanks man. Yeah I will be. I need to get hold of some better screen recording software first. But pretty soon I’ll do a short demo using some free software that records for about 2 mins
Cool to see people are interested in this stuff!
SoundFix saidI bet! I’d be interested to hear it in action. What are your plans for it? Personal use? Release it on max community?
Blue_Atom_Audio saidThanks man. Well I started in January and have spent many nights working out it, so probably around 250-300 hours. Although a lot of this time has been spent tweaking the smallest things! haha It’s such an addictive piece of software
Looks ace! How long did it take to build? I had a go at making effects in Max a couple of times but it drove me crazy!
Well i have to present it to my class in April and if i’m happy with it then I’d like to make it available for people to use, but not to be able to see all the patching, just use it to write/perform music. Ideally I’d like to make it into a plug-in but I think that’s pretty difficult from what i’ve heard/read. I’m guessing people would only be able to use it as a Max standalone or in Ableton Live. Either way, I want to release it somehow and it would be great if I could get it posted somewhere on the Max website.
