you’ll be a slave to your clients, given that the freelancer market is so competitive, all the “freedom…” guys are already established until you get there you’ll replace freedom with insecurity..

Well that’s nice and motivating!!

Like anything in life, put in the hard work and the rewards are there for the taking. True it’s not easy but nothing really worth doing ever is.

The freedom is there and the motivation to succeed is so much greater as you are creating something that will support you, your family and any lucky creatives you choose to hire in the future should you choose to transfer the skills you learn whilst freelancing into a small business.

I would consider myself established now and yes when I started it was nerve wracking as I didn’t know if it would work but you’re already a part of an awesome outlet for downtime and a lot of my initial clients came from work I uploaded here whilst I was waiting for other stuff to come in.

Most importantly, the nervous feeling was far outweighed by the amazing sense that I was the one in control of my life.

Booooo jk000jk, boooooo.

Best of luck mate. I made that decision about four years ago and second to getting married, it was the best thing I’v ever done.

Enjoy being in control of your life and safe in the knowledge that if you work extra hard, all the benefits will come your way and not be lining the pockets of another.

Been a while since I posted in the forum, partly due to work and mostly due to the fact that I have been spending all my time rifling through box after box of records in London’s many independent record stores.

Recently I bought myself a turntable and bought my first vinyl. The sound and experience of owning something physical (after years of being an mp3 iPod person) blew my mind and now my ‘collection’ is growing at a fairly awesome rate!

So… anybody else been bitten by the vinyl bug? Or are you of the opinion that vinyl is dead and MP3s will rule forever.

@Pezflash Awesome! The in-laws have a couple of apartments in Cerler which isn’t too far from Formigal. I’m very jealous that you’re out there skiing now whilst I’m chained to the desk frantically tying to meet deadlines.

Hope you are having/had a good time.

@TacoMusic I’l definitely be giving you a heads up in the not too distant future. I have never been to Seville but I really want to go and as as soon as I get myself a left hand drive motor we will be touring a lot of the country and visiting new places. Beer ahoy!

@Keyframed We have the end of August as a rough moving date. Gives us enough time to sort everything out at both ends and make sure we are properly prepared etc. Also gives me time to finish up major projects and sort out cover for the month of downtime I am sure I will need after shifting my entire life a good few miles from it’s current home.

@Pezflash I love Zaragoza and having come from London I am really looking forward to living in a quieter city. Major bonus though… driving distance to snowboard territory!!!! For once in my life I will actually be looking forward to winter. :)

Thanks everyone for the messages, it’s a big move and it might not work out but best to know for sure than to be having a case of the what-ifs in 20 years time.

^ awesome! Better get saving though, I gather Norway is one of the most expensive places in Europe to buy a beer. (That’s how I base all my ‘how expensive is this place’ analysis). Meant to be an absolutely stunning part of the world though!!!! Good luck to you sir. Keep us posted.

Oh dear we thought about the same idea, I want to reach Elite Author Status quit my current high position and fly like a bird :) Soo happy to hear that some people already reaching they dreams

Thank you, however this has nothing to do with Elite Author and in fact I have been working so hard on building up my studio that I have had no time to work on any Videohive stuff. The sales reflect that and have all but dried up to a small trickle in the most recent months.

The one thing it has provided me with though is an awesome way to reach out and connect with designers from around the world so… hopefully Pixeful when you fulfil that dream and move elsewhere give me a shout. Who knows, we might end up being neighbours! :)

Am I dreaming or nobody referenced the Great Amiga 500 yet?
If I am not mistaken, in Terminator II – Judgment Day, They used Amiga 4000s for the effects.

Dude! Yes!!!!

Amiga 500+. Not the standard Amiga 500 that only had 512k of ram. This beast had a whole 1mb!!!

I remember being really jealous when my best mate upgraded to 2mb.

After 30 years of being a resident Brit (except for one year in Tunisia and three months in South East Asia) me and the missus have decided to move to Spain.

It’s not as crazy and spontaneous as it may initially seem. My wife is Spanish and we have a lot of friends and family over there so we won’t be starting completely from scratch but I am massively hyped up about it!

I am a bit nervous about the whole adapting to a new lifestyle etc. but I think I’l be alright. Good food, better wine, even better weather.

So yeah, that’s it from me. Anyone else out there had any fun experiences relocating to start new lives? Also anybody out there living in Zaragoza? That’s where we are heading to. Would be great to meet some fellow authors and motion graphic designers para compartir unas cervezas. :)
