I guess I need to resubmit all my items again. :)

Thank you for clarifying.

Please bare with me if this has already been submitted and discussed.

Every week we receive several tickets from rather frustrated customers telling us that they can’t install the WordPress plugin they just purchased through Codecanyon. This happens because Codecanyon has decided to include a folder with licensing files inside the downloaded zip file and also NOT include a zip file of the actual plugin files.

This means the customer must un-zip the downloaded file and then open it and create a zip file of the plugin files and then install the plugin.

Are we doing everything we can to make it as difficult as possible for customers?

When some downloads a plugin from e.g. wordpress.org they can install it right away without having to create a zip file first.

If the license.txt must be included why don’t Codecanyon make it a requirement when we submit the files. Let the author include the license.txt in the root of the plugin folder. Or if its not present add the file. Don’t add an extra folder and NOT include a zip file of the plugin! :S

In Calendar on your Mac/iPhone you can subscribe to a iCal feed. So all you need is a calendar that lets you “export” a iCal. Self promotion is not really allowed in the forum, but checkout the WordPress Calendar section. :)

+1 I receive quite a lot of requests to reuse my work on TF and I refuse all of them. Our work on CC is undervalued IMO.

I do understand why some CC authors don’t allow FT authors to include their work in a theme. The Extended License on CC is way to cheap.

Also it should be possible to select Extended License for only some of your items!

Envato mentioned an in-house license for this when they were discussing the licensing a while back. My opnion is that the license should be 25x the original price for every item. Because paying $250 for a script that’s going to be one of the main features of a template is still extremely reasonable. And while we’re discussing templates, riddle me this: TF author buys extended licenses for 5 CC items totaling $75 in value. Then the template is sold for $15. Seems like fuzzy math to me.

I completely agree with you! ;)

Just like many of you guys we also allow our items to be included in TF themes. And we are definitely happy and honored when authors ask for approval to include an item, but I think it is a joke that you can buy something for $75-$125 and in many cases it will make you 25 times that in profit or more.

Happy New Year everyone!

I’m sure most authors are really happy with the marketplaces, but there is always room for improvement.

I welcome the latest improvement in the Author Dashboard Comments. It makes it much easier to follow up. Nice work Envato developers!

I have many things that I would like to see, but some of the most important are:

  1. Option to sell individual items on either Regular or Extended License. As it is today all your items are either under regular or extended license.
  2. Specially for Codecanyon I would like to see a developer license

What is on your wish list for 2013 ? ;)

Hello Mike Contact the author of the plugin. You are writing in a public forum :) Go to the authors profile page and contact him. I’m sure he will help you (if you have a valid license).

are these for valid item-purchase-code verified installations? maybe there is a set of item purchase codes that make up the majority of these installations? could be someone sharing their item purchase code along with the package. we’ve found a few leaked codes when installation numbers spike and we disable new installations/updates for those particular codes.

We sold 2,010 copies of this plugin, but as we have “update notification” in the plugin we know how many times it has been installed. We don’t restrict the usage of the plugin trough the license key. I believe that if you do this then someone will just “crack it” and distribute it without.

Better provide extra content free stuff – if you enter the license key. However I think that each plugin would get installed less times if we could offer a developer license or discount on multiple purchases.
