With my first leaf I am too use couple 3DS Max + Photoshop and add shine effect just with frame-by-frame hand-draw and it looks not so smooth and not satisfy me and then in older leaf versions I wanted to use more controllable effect on leaf and use this scheme:

Logo shape from Illustrator to 3DS Max with Extrude+FFD (to make leaf not just flat but with thickening of the middle), then rendered to sequence with alpha channel – Vray with GI + Gamma 2.2 + matte floor plane to correct back colors with this gamma, then I correct leaf colors + gradients and add fake shine and reflections effects in AfterEffect with animated shape layers, then render to sequence and load files into stack in Photoshop, make frames from layers and create final gif. To make version with sharpen edges I use High Pass with overlay mode for each layer with simple action in Photoshop.

Pdesignx, cool logo design, love it! Reminds me nostalgie Death Star gunner helmet from Star Wars, who remember and really nice forms in logo.
