I got rejected several times too, it’s not a pleasant feeling, but I deserved it, because my work is not really high-quality. My latest rejected project was http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=QRYn9oOpg6k (thinking of giving it free). In my opinion, your logo will be better looking if you add some depth to it, an extrusion. And if you call it “shiny”, then I suggest you to add some reflections/glass looking “material” to the logo as well. :)

The item got rejected… well, I’ll try harder next time. :)

I have uploaded it now and I’m waiting for the stuff’s reply. Here is an HD render: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=QRYn9oOpg6k I still think that there should be done more work, but I don’t want to make it too complex to the eye, iykwim (no perv. meaning). :D

Hi, this is my second project, which I would like to upload here and I’m wondering whether it will be approved or not. I know it’s not perfect, I try to keep it simple, so I believe that’s all there is to work on it. Maybe more work on the logo appear, I don’t know. :)

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Tx_9KkA-3G4 – I will upload it later in HD, because for now I’m not sure if this would be the final version. Tell me if you like it and be mean as far as you need to be, I accept all kind of critics. :P

Hi, buddy.

I think I’m just like you (or was, now I’m going through some kind of metamorphosis), but anyway – I asked the same questions and I couldn’t find a specific answer. I don’t know if there is, but here is my opinion on that. Just like you, I started with VideoCopilot, first I was editing their templates and that was all for now (don’t get me wrong, I don’t advice you to give up just like that). That was 2 years ago and for less than a week I just gave up and didn’t opened AE for a while (couple of monts actually)... When I started to feel bored, I said to myself that this time when I start AE, I’ll be more patient in learning and experimenting. So, I basically started with a layer and then I started browsing through all effects and presets. After doing that, I closed AE and in the next day, I tried to do something by myself. It was awful with really bad timing, non-stylish and all, but I continued working on it. So now, after a lot of experimenting (and a lot to come) and watching tutorials, I think I’m somewhere between the “beginner – intermediate” level. Sadly, I don’t have really good PC to render my “tryouts”, so that’s why, to be honest, I registered here. To earn some cash, because I see here really cool templates (which I can actually recreate, but the idea would be now stolen) and these particular templates have a lot of sales, so that kinda fooled me that everything is easier than it seems. And now I’m stucked in that pattern – I need a good computer to earn good cash <=> I need good cash to earn and buy good computer. Haha :P

I wish you all the best dude and I believe that one day everything will come along. :)

Thank you very much for your kind answers, guys! I really appreciate that. I’m wondering whether I can use my old HDD (SATA) and instead buy only the SSD or not?

ivy bridge cpus are quite hot so consider getting a good cooler

Erm… I thought AMD were the ones that overheat, but anyway. Does the CPU come with a cooler or I need to buy an extra one? Because I’m not exactly sure. On some of the CPUs in the CPU list (from which I chose 3770) there says “BOX”, while on the others – “TRAY”. I thought “BOX” is standing for cooler.

@3alisha, you truly changed my mind and now I’m not even thinking of buying the i5. About GTX660 – here it costs around 200$. :)

Thank you again and cheers!

Hi!

I’m thinking of buying a new PC. My budget is somewhere around 700$. I don’t know almost nothing in the hardware part, so I’m asking you here. The main reason to buy new PC is to render much faster my projects and more freedom in a matter of possibilities and experimenting with Cinema 4D, and so on. I was advised to buy these:

  • CPU : I7-3770/3.4G/8M/BOX/LGA1155;
  • GPU : Palit GTX660 2GB D5
  • RAM : CORSAIR 2×8GB Vengeance DDR3 1600Mhz 1.5V
  • MOBO : ASROCK Z77M /Z77/1155
  • HDD : 1TB WD Caviar Blue 7200rpm 64MB SATA3
  • PSU :: Corsair 600W Builder Series CX V2

I still didn’t choose the case and fans. So, is this setup good? Is the motherboard suitable for this CPU and if it is actually, could there be better choice for small amount of money? The guys that helped me with the GPU said that GTX is the better choice than ATI (HD7850), because it has CUDA , which, according to them, is really good for rendering in After Effects, C4D or 3DS Max.

Oh, and one more thing: i5-3750 or i7-3770? I guess that i7 is more powerful and so on, but would there be any big difference in the rendering time and processing? If there isn’t, I would like to save money by buying the i5, but if that is not the case, then I still have the money to buy i7.

And final – do I have to choose the -K version of the CPU ? I believe that this has to do with the opition to clock it. I never clocked a CPU before and I’m wondering – would I need that?

P. S. My current specs (really comic and old):

  • CPU : AMD Athlon 64 X2 5200 + 2,71GHz
  • RAM : 4GB DDRII
  • GPU : NVIDIA 8600GT 256 MB (and I have another – ATI HD6770 )
  • MOBO : Gigabyte GA-M52L-S3
  • HDD : 320GB

I believe that I will find a great boost and improvement of the rendering time and everything. So… I want to hear your opinion. If this topic is not in the right place, please, excuse me.

Cheers! :P

Hi, guys! I’m from Bulgaria and I’m studying After Effects on my own now. I have a lot of ideas to realize, but my PC doesn’t allow me to do it. Anyway, I’m glad that there is also a “Balkan” comunity here :P
